Kyosho Concept 30 DX.

That Supertigre 30 engine never ran right! Cone starter, flimsy blades, everything was flimsy about it! But, I got it to hover and do some simple forward flight! It was EXHILARATING!!!

Raptor 30 with the 49 ball bearing upgrade!
TT39, GY401/9254 and HS425 servos.
Flew it over a year and multiple gallons before ever dropping it (lots of sim time). Went to Raptor 50's the second season

Kyosho Concept 30 DX. Same here. I used to do autos with those styrofoam blades. My last flight was an ugly one, I was flying about 75 feet up from right to left and I got blew blade. One blade blew north and the other blew south. It drilled a hole about 6 inches in the ground.

To hover is divine, the alternative is rather PLANE.

Shuttle

Back in the early 90's I got this Shuttle from my Brother. I put it together and was out trying to hover it when Bam a link pop off and it started to do the chicken dance. did not fly another heli for years. then a friend sold me a Concept 30 and of course crashed it just as fast. This was about 2000. Again did not fly helis for a few years. Then my club hosted a FF for helis and the bug hit me hard. about 2005 I bought a Raptor 30 and have not turn back yet. BTW I still have the crashed Shuttle and I did rebuild the Concept 30. It could fly today if I could ever find that old gold Futaba transmitter. Guess I will need to update the radio in it.

Is it the weekend yet?

My 1st was a Kyosho Concept 30. My second a GMP Legend Elite.

My second was a Kyosho Nexus 30. As bad as it was, I still thought it was light years ahead of the Concept 30! LOL, incredible feeling when I was first learning - literally could not sleep at night from excitement!

Same here! Except that mine was a V1 with the TT36. What a POS that motor was. Unlike the folks that I flew with at the time, mine lasted about 3 gallons. I was lucky....then did its best grenade impersonation. It was quite the sight.

Put a webra 35 in it, and flew another few years with it. Still have that heli, too. Not flying, of course.

This might be a long thread

Shuttle ZXX. Learned to hover with it. Never crashed. It was very wobbly in the air. Looking back the head speed was too low and I'm sure a dozen other things were wrong with it.

I still have the crash kit. I gave the Shuttle away years ago (to be used for display).

I'm not sure if I was successful in hovering it. But it was an American Mantis fixed pitch.

It looked something like this (not mine).

Started with a Hirobo Shuttle Z. Futaba 148 servos with a Futaba 153 mechanical rate gyro. I gradually upgraded it to a ZXX and still own it.
