Please read my first post, or if you prefer, make up your own criteria as to how society should benefit? More productive, healthier, pay more taxes, less child abuse, fewer divorces, less crime, etc.? The list could be long, but at least you could take a stab at it. steve.

the irony is that any society has had gay people for as long as human as a species existed. in the past they got persecuted or burnt at the stake etc. . .

I really don't know how being more productive, healthier, pay more taxes, less child abuse, fewer divorces, less crime, etc. has got anything to do with their right to be treated just like any other couple in love. All marriages have problems and some are even toxic etc. . . whose business is that of anyone's?

more likely that you don't like the fact that gay couples are getting equal rights as hetero couples because you think they're a bad role model for you or your children.

I want them to justify it because they are asking for rights and benefits that are being paid in part by my tax dollars.
Maybe we should as all people who aren't "like you" to justify why they should be treated equally...
Before we reward them financially and socially, it makes sense that some evidence be provided that the investment makes sense.
Reward them? Really?
As for equality, there are many behaviors that are not treated equally. People who drive faster than the speed limit are fined
Because they are breaking the law and endangering society.
illegal aliens are deported,
Because they broke the law
criminals are imprisoned.
Because they broke the law
Please don't come back saying that I'm suggesting that Gays are criminals and should be imprisoned, because they aren't and shouldn't.
But this is exactly the comparisons you chose to make, and then you ask us to ignore it.
But the point is made that every day society makes distinctions based on peoples behavior and it's effect on the population as a whole.
Can you provide an example?
Gays want to be accepted as equals, let them be the ones to provide the evidence in favor of such a decision. steve.
Did blacks have to prove they were a benefit to society in order to be set free?

Really?? Why do people that try to argue for equal rights about gayness, or illegal aliens always fall back on this? You have no idea so shut your mouth degenerate.

Equality for blacks was by far different than someone wanting to marry the same sex.

Edit: Hey man I'm sorry for the direct snap I don't know you like that to degrade you but really chill out when making uneducated comparisons.

Sounds like were cooking with gas....

You're exactly right, the only comparison I am making is this; it was never a requirement for a black man to prove he was a "social equal" before he was granted the same legal rights as a white man. Why would anyone think it's appropriate to require someone prove that they are a social equal? The point I was making is that nowhere, throughout the history of mankind, has this happened before. And now steve9534 (and people like him) consider this an appropriate challenge to the question.

Challenge

I'll be happy to provide an answer as soon as you answer my question on evidence. There will always be those who want to behave as they wish and be treated equally regardless of whether the behavior is good or bad, helpful or unhelpful. It's not the same as saying that one's skin color is irrelevant to how they should be treated. steve

why should they have to justify this nonsense of yours to anyone?

do you justify why you love your wife to everyone, and do you think about being more productive, healthier, pay more taxes, less child abuse, fewer divorces, less crime, etc. when you married her? Or did you just married her because of your own personal feelings that you are not willing to share with us (and we wouldn't want you to anyway because it's none of our business!!!)?

I read this statement of yours and I laugh:
I want them to justify it because they are asking for rights and benefits that are being paid in part by my tax dollars. Before we reward them financially and socially, it makes sense that some evidence be provided that the investment makes sense
what century exactly are you living in? Why can't you say I don't really like Gay people getting married because it disgusts me and that's how I feel about it? Simple, because then you'll be honest instead of throwing BS at us.

Read here

Allow me to summarize the link. The American Phsycological Association supports the idea that any marriage (regardless of orientation of parents) has shown substantial psychological and physical health benefits due to the moral, economic and social support extended to married couples. Additionally, children raised by same-sex couples have been shown to be on par with the children of opposite-sex couples in their psychological adjustment, cognitive abilities and social functioning.

Your turn.

Evidence

I'm aware that the APA is promoting Gay rights. The reference makes claims and endorses a viewpoint w/o providing any evidence. steve.

Guess we're done here. If the opinion of psychological professionals isn't enough for you, then neither should the opinion of your clergymen. But of course this isn't the case.

Edit: The APA does state the research that they conducted supports their findings. But of course you may see a fault in this.

Your link to the norwegian gay animal specilist show no evidence of anything. Here is a few words from a fellow scientist

However, in July of 2009, an alleged homosexual penguin in a California zoo was debunked. Peter LaBarbera reported:
“ San Francisco’s Fox affiliate KTUV reports: “The San Francisco Zoo’s popular same-sex penguin couple has broken up.
“Male Magellan penguins Harry and Pepper have been together since 2003. The pair nested together and even incubated an egg laid by another penguin in 2008, but their relationship hit the rocks earlier this year when a female penguin, Linda, befriended Harry after her long-time companion died.
“Zookeepers say Harry and Linda are happy and were able to successfully nest this year,” reported KTUV.
But not everyone is celebrating Harry and Linda’s newfound love. Some believe there can be no such a thing as an “ex-gay” penguin. Upon news of Harry’s decision to fly the same-sex-coop, outspoken pro-homosexual activist and anti-ex-gay crusader Wayne Besen cried fowl:
“Attempts to change sexual orientation are patently offensive, discriminatory by definition, theologically shaky, uniformly unsuccessful and medically unsound!” exclaimed a visibly angry Besen. “There is no ‘ex-gay’ sexual orientation. Harry is simply in denial. He’s living what I call the ‘big lie.’”[11]

The argument for gay animals is really fruitless.

It still boils down to their personal pride and the money in he end. Nobody is being stoped from loving ,having a relationship or relations of any kind with any person they choose ( other then underage children). So why is it such a big deal other then the money .
it was never a requirement for a black man to prove he was a "social equal" before he was granted the same legal rights as a white man
Your correct but they had the backbone to stand up and prove themselfs to all That they deserved the rights they have now.

Did you really just reference a known gay hater? Really? At least use a reference that has merit, or someone respected in their field. Your post references a man who only has an undergrad in political science. Please tell me how this qualifies him to speak authoritatively on the impacts of homosexuality in America. Unless you can do that, keep your opinion on the shelf.

I don't think that at all. I think that APA is promoting HUMAN RIGHTS.

And I don't think people like you have any right to ask someone to justify their feelings and worth to society just so they fit your own preconceived notions of what "normal" is.

If you would zip your anger for a moment and read this was a news report story!

Who is the gay hater? Pepper?
Hers is one of many sources for the story!

So much anger in you sad indeed. Are you kin to sks? You sound as if you two are brothers.

Anger is just the way you act not what you believe. You are thinking with your feelings again syo . You that is wrong as you always tell me
I refuse to match wits with a dumbbell...
I'm not flying, I'm simply trying to disprove Newton's stupid laws of gravity...
So what your spot in this fight you are coddling ? Your gay and want to get marred and can't or what? There are states that will allow you to marry to what's the big deal? I guess you can follow in syos footsteps and just call people names and cuss at them . Please explain your position and reasons for this fight. If giving ones opinion make you mad then find anotherform of interaction with the world or you will be sorely dissapointed with life
