I have read that you are not supposed to regulate A123 batteries. I would like to use the 123s in my Trex600 but I have a 401/9254 tail servo. What are u guys using to reduce the voltage to the tail servo using 123 batteries systems is you are not supposed to regulate the 123 batteries.

If you really care about extending the expiration date of the 9254, just add a small voltage stepdown between the gyro an the servo.

There are a number of them out there.

I don't understand why you should not regulate A123's???? It should make absolutely no difference to the battery, right?

A123s gives you a nice flat supply of ~6.5v all day long and then they drop like a rock. Most servos live quite happy with 6.5v except some tail servos, which will run a bit hotter than usual and live a shorter live. (your milage may vary)

From the battery perspective, yeah, they don't care if OR where downstream they are regulated.

Duralite makes a 1.5 v step down or you can use a spektrum dual reg .The step down drops voltage from pack where the spektrum will always be at 5.3 . I use step down on A123s with no issues and spektrum on lipos. On my T744 I use a 1.5 plus a.5 volt step down and works great.

The duralite step down does say not recommended for A123 batts

Thanks

Thanks for all the replies. I knew that I had to regulate the voltage to the 9254 but I was told not to regualte 123 batteries, but evidently some of you guys are doing that with success. I have a 5.1 regulater ( don't remember brand) so I eill put that between the 401 and the tail servo. Thanks again for the replies...
