If I understand you correctly, you are suggesting I use a 3 position switch instead of condition in the Governor menu (8fg)., maybe I have misunderstood.
What I would like, is to use condition for normal and idle1 headspeeds, but have a 2 postion switch to turn the governor on and off from the transmitter so that I can periodically check the engine is in tune and the curves still as close as possible.
Let me explain a little bit more in my poor written english.
Futaba 8FG has 5 governor conditions that are set independently of regular flights condition on Tx.
Of course, you can relate governor conditions to a regular condition on your Tx, doing all the programing on the same switch.
For example, if you program sw B three flights condition, that is normal, idle-1 , idle-2 , You can also program on governor menu sw B three RPM, for normal zero RPM or off, idle-1 1560 rpm and for idle-2 1800 rpm. ( channel 7 )
So, if your are flying and need to put governor OFF, you just need to tap your sw B back to normal and governor will go off.
Using On/off switch
If you check page 48, you can enable channel 8 that is mean to turn on and off your governor with a two pole switch.
Then, check your Tx that channel 8 is relate to a two pos. switch to see when is On and when is off.
You still can leave the RPM setting above , the same...
then, three RPM you already set. On normal condition the RPM is ZERO or OFF. On Idle-1 and Idle-2 you put your RPM of your desire.
sw F (two pole switch) you can program channel 8,and turn on and off your governor.epilogue
You will have two choices for the governor to be On and off.
Via sw B RPM switch or via sw F, On/off switch.
The default channel on gy701 are listed form page 62.
