OK,,,I'm building a T-Rex 700E for SPEED. I have a killer, one-of-a-kind monster motor for it. I want to try the speed trap at IRCHA next year.

Q; anyone have any experience with what blades would work better for SPEED?

I'm not even going to try any 3D with this bird,,,'all-out-fast' is what I want. I'm going to try +/-15 collective and only about +6 degrees cyclic pitch.

I'm thinking some CY Radix blades because they have a wider cord. BTW- this will be a FBL heli---BeastX.

What main blades should I look at??

Thanks!!

Randy

Ive been told that semi symetrical blades go faster than symetrical.
Anyone care to chime in on this?

FAI blades are great for high speed.

All out speed go for Radix gold ones, or look into Spin Blades for sure. Heavy tips and rigid is the goal for all out speed.

Am I right that flat bottom blades provide for the best lift and possibly best speed?

Problem is, where do you find them....

Interesting,,,,I figured I would get more opinions on this.

I was at IRCHA last year but I failed to go watch the speed runs,,,,it was after the speed contest that I won the monster Scorp motor and decided to try this. The winning speed for electrics was 128 mph. I wanna try for 130 mph,,,with this 12S 650kv motor I should get close. We'll see!

Still looking for some infinitive responses to this. Anyone here actually have experience with building speed helis?

I just hope the damn heli will stay together,,LOL.

I'll be trying between 2400 to 2500 rpm headspeed.

What would be faster? 690 or 710mm blades? The longer blades may suck too much power,,,I guess the data logging will answer that.

I can speed test my helis by putting my GPS unit between the boom supports,,,that tells me the max speed for each run.

I know my T-Rex 600 Pro will go just under 100 mph,,,I logged 99.7 mph twice,,,it would probably break 100 without the GPS unit on it,,LOL!

If you have the resources, lower the head as much as you can and aim for -5 +15 degrees of pitch.

Thank you! Does the length matter much,,,690s or 710mm? Which would make for a faster heli?

You say 'Gold' blades,,do you mean the FAI blades??

Thx!

OICU812-

I did a search for spin blades but I get all kinds of crap on spinning blades. Do you have a link for Spin Blades? I appreciate it!

my opinion...
Smaller blades need to spin faster for same speed as lower rpm with 710mm, although amp draw will most likely go up.
However, spin 710mm at same rpm as 690, you will have more lift, and should go faster.
Im no expert, just thinking out loud

Auto training blades ! 600 semi blades at 158 g !

I am curious as to why there is a market for these ? I am the only one in a hundred mile radius that flies heavy semi blades.

These blades are extremely wide chord. They must use a reduced pitch range like old Schluter blades.

Anyone know the answer to this?;

Which blades would be faster,,,the 690s or the 710s? The 710 would give more lift at a given rpm but they need more power to get there. What's the trade off??

I'm talking about speed,,,the heli, not the blades!

Thx!!

710s always got me 10-15mph faster over 690s consistently.
