Hi everyone,

I fly hard 3d on my trex 550 but after seeing a gaui x5 witth 2800rpm I´ve been wondering if I could use 3000 rpm headspeed without blowing my heli.

right now i have scorpion 4025-1100 runing on 6s. with 17 pinion and 550mm blades, HS:~2400rpm

thanks

Daniel

Not sure what the max safe headspeed would be? I believe the x5 runs 500mm blades which would allow a higher headspeed then using 520-550mm blades like the rex does tho...

I' be trying that HS with 520' s. I believe on 520 will be easy tu achieve that perfomance.

I think the X5 is able to run 520's but I don't know the HS with em

my x5 had me asking the same thing a few weeks back i got the same motor pinion and everything. i found with a 100 90 100 curve it seems to be pretty nutzy. 550 blades 2500 hs ish. still 9 tenths to the x5 though.

That helps me, to start testing a good speed on the rex550, i'll order some pinions and star testing diferent speed.

I'll start with and 19T and check how the heli reacts

550 gearing

You maybe should try an 18 tooth pinion first to see how hot your system gets--also you will have to cut your flight times--I tried the 18 tooth for a few flights; but went back to the 17 for longer flight times; lower temps and lots of torque. I really like my 550 but I think it's a little too heavy with all the metal parts.

I do a great decending funnel!

With and 18 teeth, I have the stock headspeed it will be arround 2600 rpm so I rather prefer testing on the 19. My qctual temp is really low it barely reaching 40 celsius but i'll start using 520's first and then try with 550

I find this the biggest problem with the 550, it really does need a high headspeed which just eats the flight time! I ran mine at 2500 and was down to 3.5 mins! Sold it.

60% of the time, it works every time!
