Just wondering if the brushless conversion works well with the RTF radio the DX4e. Has anyone tried it? How does it compare?

Edit: for clarification...

With a computer radio you must define a pitch and throttle curve. You can not do this with the DX4e. So because of this limitation i want to know if the upgrade makes any difference using the DX4e.

How do you like the stock radio? is it adequate?
What other radios does it work with?

It works exactly the same as with any other radio. I occasionally grab the radio that came with it when my DX8 isn't right at hand to fly in my basement and changing to brushless made no difference in that, it just has more power.

Really though, think about a better radio, the difference in how mine flies with the dx4e and Dx8 is pretty dramatic.

I got the one from Clubheli. Works Well and was the cheapest I saw.

It's a true DIY kit with a bunch of fiddly soldering on tiny points, but it works well. $60 IIRC.

I can tell you this, there is no reason for a heli that size to have that much power. Which makes it just about right.

I think I put the 8 on it, not positive since I didn't count, but it's the smaller.

It works fine with the stock radio, but it is much better with a real computer radio.

I'm not going to get another radio since i already invested in a synthesized 9303 just a few years ago. That is why i'm asking about the DX4e. So i'd really like to hear from anyone who is or has flown a brushless conversion with the DX4e radio. I'm wondering if having the DX4e will negate all the benefits of the upgrade.

OK, LIKE I SAID,

It works exactly the same as with any other radio. I occasionally grab the radio that came with it when my DX8 isn't right at hand to fly in my basement and changing to brushless made no difference in that, it just has more power.
If it wasn't clear, I have upgraded mine to brushless using the kit from clubheli. I have the RTF. It flies fine with the DX4e that came with it, it has a ton of power. It flies better when I use my DX8, though, just like before the upgrade.

Calm yourself eury, i saw your post. First you say it makes no difference then you say it has more power. That's not exactly a clear explanation. But that doesn't really matter anyway. I'm not just looking for your thoughts, i'm looking for any and all thoughts from anyone who has experience.

It makes sense but I confused you guys. My bad!
lol

Yes, a nicer computer radio could only help for many reasons.

I think he said it makes no difference what radio you use for the brushless system.

I apologize for Hijacking your thread!
I thought while we were on the subject of the stock radio I'd get a quick opinion. I see now its just a basic 4ch radio like the old GWS $20 transmitters but with 2.4ghz.

It other words the heli board handles all the mixing etc.

Really? Why are you going to be rude to me? You indicated in your reply that you hadn't seen any reply to your question.

Honestly, how would changing to a brushless motor have any effect on how your transmitter works with something? Your question makes no sense whatsoever. Changing a motor makes no difference in how a heli flies, aside from the fact that it has more power. How could it? The mixing stays the same, the servos stay the same, the head stays the same, nothing changes aside from having it not bog when you get stupid with the collective.

Do you guys happen to know if the DX4e will bind to any spektrum stand alone receivers?

That would make it useful for a plank or small 4ch FP heli I have here on hand when I get a new Futaba again.

Yes, it'll bind to any of them. I bound mine to some HoobyKing clones to test them and it worked fine. I think I read that it is even Dsmx.

So I order up the clubheli brushless kit yesterday and the all of a sudden my aileron servo starts to do the shakes and quits working. Damn!! I guess I'll have to wait until horizon has servos back in stock before I can feel the power of the brushless!

I think I have One down in my basement nip. I'll check later, if I do I'll send it to you and you can replace it when they come back in.
