Thank you guys for all the kind words.

No kids...LOL, Married with twins and a third child all under 10!
But yes the cad drawings went up to 8 revisions before I had it the way I wanted it.

It started as a simple 2 piece frame like the older TREX 450. When I crash most of the time it is only the lower section that was breaking so the idea was to make it easier to fix by just replacing the lower half. Then the idea of moving the motor, then it snowballed!

The weight is actually less then the 600e. The loss of the steel shaft, bearings and other hardware add's up and in every revision I tried to shave off a bit more weight.

I don't have a nitro TREX to experiment with so it would be difficult to start the drawings but maybe in the future I can get one together.

things we all want to see (my opinion):

-trex 250-700 (nitro/elec) frames like those.
-prices for the consumer
-availability
-weight compared to stock
-flight videos

i know that this is the first but just wanted to let you know that this could be a great success i know you would get a ton of buyers.

let us know if your planning on marketing these things
thanks!

He already has that posted on his web site. The site is as nice as his machining. Very well done.

I got a little side tracked...

I received my new mill last week and have started to convert it to CNC. It is a bit larger then the current machines with a work envelope of 12" x 30". My current machine is 6.5" x 13"!

In the background you can see the 2 mills I use now. Both were manual machines but the one furthest away in the picture is the one I converted to CNC and the one I currently make the frames on.

Hi Guys,

Wanted to give everyone an update. I have the mill finished and running. Here is a video of a couple of cuts and an overview of the finished mill.

I also have started the K-Frame for the 700e. Details on my web page.

It has been a while and I thought an update was in order...

The 700e frame set is finally finished. I don't have a good picture of the heli together but here is a picture of all the parts needed.

This is a 700e DTS based on aling parts. I decided to go with an all aluminum 2 part frame with a integrated battery tray slide. It was a ton of work to get this done but it is kind of cool.

Just curious if there's any concern with fatigue in such a rigid aluminum structure? Its a beautiful piece of work...

Do you have any comparison to the CF frame? Is there any difference in flight characteristics?
Very nice work!

Thank you,

The weight of the frame set was 12.6 oz including the bearing blocks, and equipment trays. This was the prototype and since then I have shaved off a little more but have not weighed it.

The heli is completely different then the stock frame mainly because of the DTS setup.
