This video is pretty old, several UAV companies have worked on or are presently working on systems like this.

There is a SWAT team that uses something similar but I'm not sure what agency they are with.

Easier to lose a heli than a soldier and it gives them a birds eye view.

As long as those guys keep it a controlled environment there shouldn't be an issue.

Hey as long as he is on private property what gives you guys the right to be so critical.
As long as a shot that goes high stays on his property. A little girl was killed here when a shot fired on ones property left the property and struck the little girl in the head.

I think about the hereafter. I go somewhere to get something, then wonder what I'm here after ?

Let's not catastrophize things here.

First off, the video is old. 2nd it's a controlled area and the model is shooting into a hill side from approx 6 feet away at a target.

Not much different than what many, many, many people do here several times a week with their own personal weapons. Only difference is, this has a model helicopter behind it instead of a person.

He's obviously being safe...nuff said.

As long as the shot stays on his property.
The 45acp round used in the video doesn't travel nearly as far as a rifle round would. 45 has about 15" of drop at 100 yds and 150" at 300 yds.

I give up on Loctite, nothing lasts long enough to vibrate loose anymore.

I still wouldn't want to be the cameraman, judging by where he was standing. Things can go wrong very quickly.

I'm with Mike on this one...

Both video demo "safe" at least, very controlled environments. The first looked like a civilian trying out an idea, and the second looked a little more like a private contractor testing a weapon system...

But honestly we see far more dangerous videos of low close 3D being performed with E700s spinning blades at 4 and 5 hundred RPM over recommended safe HS.

Not that I would want to be shot, or hit with a 700mm blade spinning at 2500 RPM, either would suck, but the blade strike is far more likely!

Nothing wrong with what they were doing. Looked safe and FUN. Since when did we Americans turn into a bunch of candy-a$$ wimps? Things like that exhibit creativity. Yeah, remember that thing we were once good at as a nation! I am ashamed of some people's weak-kneed responses in this thread! And before anyone jumps the gun (pun intended), I'm a liberal Democrat, not some NRA member.

like I said, U have to wonder where is he going from here with this ??

rexxigpilot,, it's not about being a candy a$$ American, it's more about a person reaching a point in his life where he has matured enough to say "what's the point of doing it if you know it can be done",, I mean I know I can mount my gun to my Dirt Bike and use a String or Servo to pull the trigger,,,, but I don't

BTW, I believe there is a Federal Law against firing a gun from a moving vehicle

There is no federal law against firing from a moving vehicle; people hunt from aircraft all the time.

I flew fixed wing since '79 or so. Always got asked "wouldn't it be cool to put a gun on it?" To which I always replied "I have to kneel in front of it to start it, and shooting myself in my boys would not be cool".
Radios are better these days, but I still see huge risk involved. I love helis and handguns, but see mixing as bad. 40 foot twinkie bad

The way he's hovering, I doubt he could hit the van He needs to learn to Hover. Then learn to shoot.

In the last year I can think of one person killed by an r/c heli and none killed by guns on a r/c heli. Maybe we should outlaw helis, obviously they are the dangerous part.

The last thing we need in this country is more stupid laws.

Looks like a safe enough area to do something like that.

From some of the limited info given,I believe that heli may be FPV.
He mentioned putting up video later of the gun sight cam.

I can't understand why so many are bashing a guy firing a gun in the middle of the woods away from any civilization while many of you would take a heli to a public park and put everyone in danger.
