I work in the business. This is not accurate or complete reporting. You cannot legislate or enforce around stupidity - nor around every mission carried out by every operator. A mission flown into bad weather is a mission flown into bad weather. How about an article about the many tens of thousands of lives saved by helicopters and airplanes? OR: an article that discusses a world that lets wildfires just burn and one that leaves stupid thrill seekers to die instead of risking the lives of aircrews to save them...

This is not news (bad news actually) unless the number of hours flown per incident with public-use/government aircraft is compared with the statistics for all other sectors of aviation.

The "Public Aircraft" comment is only to show that the FAA doesn't control everything in the air and has nothing to do with model aircraft use, now or in the future.
