JR and DSM2

So why exactly does JR have so much better technology in other countries that seems to have been on the market for years now. Why don't they release it in the U.S. when it's already out in The rest of the world? Is Spektrum really the reason JR has been holding back tech from us just so they can put out lesser tech first? Don't get me wrong I know Horizon Hobby standardized the rc world, caused things to become more affordable and made more products available in the U.S. Just seems to me like if Spektrum is really the reason why JR in America is years behind the rest of the world in tech its like they are muscling the industry around however much they can to make a ton of money on old or inferior tech. If this is so it is extremely wrong on more levels than just morally. Obviously its gotta be about $$$ somehow. It's got me worried because now Spektrum has Beastx on board with their new Spektrum AR7200BX DSMX receiver, Which is really a micro beast unit that has a Spektrum sticker on it, so I'm afraid quality of Beastx will go right out the window now. Is Spektrum only going to allow Beastx to introduce older and less advanced tech/updates in the U.S. now also, so they can have a chance at making more $$ with their own lower quality stuff. And yes I am sorry to say but I believe spektrum is lower quality and my experiences with their products has been less than satisfactory. I have had myself and seen other people have issues and failures with multiple different models of spektrum rx. I myself started in the rc heli world Unfortunately and blindly with a blade400 and Dx6i radio and didn't learn anything for the whole first year and a half only to find out(after the warranty period was expired of course) that the radio is as defective as it can be and still turn on(even though I was reassured by the hobbytown I got it from it had been sent in and checked). Not to mention the now well known fact that the b400 needs enough $$ in upgrades that you could have put a nitro .50 in the air with a good radio system. Kept wondering why i could fly on phoenix and not the real thing Until I got a new radio and heli. Suddenly I was advancing in skill on a daily basis.
Apologies for the long rant. Just my experience. Causing me to shy away from Spektrum in fear of more defects/equipment failures.

Repairs and service

I think this would be an area of concern. I must say that
Horizon is the best.

Horizon has no choice but to have good customer service as everything they sell needs service or repair.

Ok that is just untrue. They ALL have kinks and ALL needs servicing. JR/Horizon just does it whether it is in warranty or not most of the time at zero cost to the customer. Top notch in my book

On the testing a friend of mine did they found the following,it purely to see the difference between the two.

JR - Longer range on 2.4 by 1 mile, (3 miles) Futaba was 2 this is on a UK version, I know the USA version has higher output.

Jr - you have a frame loss /glitch counter, Futaba doesnt.

Jr - good programming but not able to assign switches like you can with Futaba

Jr - Better build TX

Futaba - plastic covering which used to bubble and peel off - on FF9 10C.

Futaba - easier programming, and you assign switches.

bt the biggest thing for me, was when in fail safe Futaba came back quicker, where as Jr was slower. the difference would be, if hovering with skids at eye level that difference would mean hitting the deck or saving the model.

for the record, I fly Futaba, my friend flies JR purely for the telemtry, as if his frame rate hits goes up he know he has a problem, bearing or some other kind mechanical/electrical failure,
With Futaba you dont have that..

JR obviously signed a deal with spectrum to get 2.4 into there radios first. Horizon and spectrum are related.

So with that said, it has something to do with sister wives.

@ laughingstill

Call Chris Huhn (SPEKTRUM BIG WIG) and ask him why they won't sell JR DMSS. If he says because DMSS is DSMX's direct competitor that would be true but they sell HITEC who is also a competitor. Bottom line he as all others who can SEE with their eyes knows DMSS is a better choice but will lie to you (the consumer) in order to line his own pockets. Customer Service at it's best or as you said it TOP NOTCH.

you are all right Horizon hobby and spektrum are awesome!!even though they never covered any defects out of warranty for me and told me i could pay them to fix it. but i'd still wish my truck was a chevy. I drive a ford but only cause i couldn't find a chevy that cheap. lol

At the ranges we fly, all the current modulation schemes work pretty darn well.
FBL systems take most of the mixing needs out of the picture.
So fly what feels well in your hands, and what works with your electronic needs.

In the past few months I have flown my 12X, Hitec Aurora, DX8 and a Futaba 14MZ. They all worked very well. I personally like the feel of the 12X the best. My flying buddies have their own preferences,

All of the "internet electrical engineers" pontificating about this hopping scheme or that modulation thingy can talk all they want. At the ranges we fly, and in the crowd sizes (including IRCHA), the new stuff works.
