MIP Thorpe and PB Swiss make the best.

I like the Wiha for assembly of small parts like on a 450 size heli so I don't strip out screws from excess torque.

The Thorp drivers available at heliproz south, i.e.:

http://www.ronlund.com/rcheli-prod/TOOLAL/MIP9011.html

There's nothing else that comes even close to these. I've built 4 helis now with my set and there is zero detectable wear on them, new screws are still a completely tight fit on the hex portions after loads of uses....

MIP

Align!!! Get a whole set for $10. But seeing that the aluminium handle is soft, the set screw that allows replacement of stripped tips stripped out with very little use and I had to put a larger screw in it to be able to use it...sooooo... I will be replacing them with MIP or HUDY as they break.

Align? They do not remotely compare to MIP Thorpe. Buy them once and they are for life.

EDS tools

I bought a set of EDS driver tools 12 years ago and I still use them everyday. I have not had to replace one shaft. Even the Hudy tools I owned have had to have some of the tips replaced.

And they make a nice looking set of drivers..

Thorpe

Really are the best out there. Mine have been on the bench for last 6 years and have built at least 30 birds.

MIP Thorpe all the way. I cheaped out and bought a set of Wiha's when I first started a few months ago - they ended up in the trash can. I now have all Thorpe hex drivers - what a difference.
I bought mine through a combination of ReadyHeli and Rons Heliproz.

I like the MIP thorp drivers I get at Esprit Model. I've tried a few different ones and they seem to work best.

and if you want to build helis at lightening speed, you need my secret weapon

http://www.boschtools.com/products/...spx?pid=ps20-2a

with Mavrick hardened hex bits http://www.ronlund.com/rcheli-prod/.../MAV804226.html

Use clutch setting 4 on metal to metal, and setting 1 into plastic.

Driver comes with 2 batteries and charger at Lowes.

Jim, that Bosch is nice but takes a bit of skill to use compared to the inline powered screw drivers. I tend to strip/cross-thread tiny screws with the pistol grip type drivers. That's why I prefer one like the Dewalt Model DW920K-2.

http://www.lowes.com/ProductDisplay...oductId=1206173

How are those Mavrikk tips holding up? They are a darn good price at < $10 if they are good quality tool steel.

+11 on the MIP/Thorp.

Also +1 on the Mav. tips. I use them in a Milwaukee lipo driver (with clutch) and also in some handle I got from somewhere when I need a second driver to work on a feathering shaft.

oops, bounced it!
