It was tempting when I first saw it, real tempting, but I'm really glad I didn't pre-order it now. Can't take anyones word for it nowadays.

Can't take anyone's word for what? They are going to release a Heli, it's a copy of something else or DaVinci has come back from the dead to claim his royalties?

Does this mean I won't be getting my sab-compass-sitar simple-goblin-7hv anymore? Well bugger it, I'll keep my per-order in, wait for it to be released and enjoy flying it no matter who they ripped off or had to battle to release a really innovative looking Heli.

I mean how dare they copy sitar's design, then change the head from flybarred to flybarless, put the tail on the opposite side, remove the swash followers, change it to mostly carbon and cnc'd alloy, come up with a new boom concept, then put a rap around canopy on it so it looks the same. The cheek of it. (for those that are confused this is sarcasm....!)

Come on guys, am I the only one who sees this as a joke? The Heli looks great, the design is great, their communication is great, the details have been great, you have team pilots listing failures on prototype machines (er great), it's been delayed and they explained why and they've even come clean about the patent pending issue in Germany. How much more do you need before you give them a break?

If I was to build a herrigbone main gear mold it would be over 50k.
Heliaddict, at that price you won't be making plenty.

When the pre order was announced, I called and it was full price non-refundable deposit and a delivery date of first batch, never heard 'estimated' mentioned. For me and that type of commitment, I would have thought they were serious on that date. I haven't made my millions yet for it to be inconsequential that I tie up $1K more than a day than was promised.

I'm in no way saying its a bad heli or SAB is a bad company, you mis-read my context. I was simply saying that I'm glad in hindsight I (myself, me, personally) didn't make that deposit. I would've been dying in waiting and then gutted to find it would take longer than promised, even if they are fixing things.

For me, I will just wait till they are on the shelves and all problems are fixed and hopefully by then I'll have made my millions and buy extra kits just for the fun of it, lol.

Heli direct told me full price non refundable, I called the day they added pre order for it, guess I wasn't told the truth. I waited on the phone for quite a while waiting to hear which paint scheme would be included on the first batch and was told the it was the green scheme.

What deposit...?

If I had paid one, it would have been £10.

Our local distributor also just takes pre-orders without any deposit and not binding or anything like that. That's the common way of handling such deals.

I just read about the conclusion of issues with Compass Models. I don't think the delay issues were about drive train gears. I think it had to do with the grip links that are very similar to Compass heads. Don't know what the resolution was, but I'm really hoping that it didn't involve changing the head and links in any way.

Somehow it seems that Align is changing over to the Compass type head system also, so maybe they let SAB fight the battle for them. Whatever the issue, looks like SAB is getting back into full production of the Goblin.

My issue with the setup is the torque put on the linkages. If the setup is sound its another way for the mfg to sell you less stuff for the same price.

I definitely like ball raced swash driver arms over relying on a linkage with a little space between the bearings...

But it does look like its working

I don't know if the exploded view on SAB's website is the final version, but it does look like the links are substantially more than just flanged bearings on each end of the link with a bolt going thru and screwing into the grip. I haven't seen a Compass head, so I don't know how it is setup other than it is just similar to the SAB and now ALign ones, so I can't tell.

Hopefully it works as well as it is advertised. Still excited waiting on mine to be delivered.
