Sure, I'm a little behind the times but thankful that technology has come so much farther in the past couple years! My E-stratus is semi-complete to the point of being flyable! First flight today after changing to the Tempest grips and Edge blades. Hovered about 5 mins checking headspeed and just listening to the sweet sound of gear/blade noise instead of rowdy nitro noise

Setup:

"flat" style motor mount
Hyperion 4035-500
100T main/11T pinion
Castle Creamations ICE2 120HV
Cheapo 40C Turnigy 5000's
8717's
GY601
Tempest grips/844 head
Edge FBL 710s

SK-720/FAI pitch arms are going on next when returned from it's checkout at Skookum.

I chose to run a seperate batt pack for now, as the weight is not an issue for me. Just going to enjoy this Stratus as a step into the 700 size E machines.

This is what happens when your velcro is not good enough and lets go during a tic-toc! Noticed a rapid rotor decel. I'm assuming that was due to 2 ea cells shorting out after the motor ran through them!! 150 dollar mistake. Make sure you run the good velcro wraps and industrial velcro on the bottom plate.

That really sucks.

You are lucky the whole thing didn't go up in flames.

Thanks, TheWoodCrafter

Odds are already stacked against me on that one for using a CC120HV

Funny you mentioned that, I'm making a G-10 enclosure for them as we speak! Nice top and bottom retainer attaching to the front and rear frame.

Thanks! It's been a simple and cheap transition. I freakin love that heli now, and once it's flybarless I'm sure it will be a bit better. I wanted a new whiplash but this was way cheaper. Thanks to cgbole and a few others that helped me so much! I got really lucky those batts didn't go up in flames! Lesson learned use better Velcro!

Thanks! All used from the classifieds! The stratus is by far my favorite. Min air furion is next because of its speed!

Made a bottom velcro plate with 1/8" G-10 from Mcmaster-carr, along with a top battery saver plate today. Was going to make a box, but this baby doesn't need any more weight!

Also, just converted to flybarless. What do you all think about the links facing out? Those that have gone flybarless, is the old gyro sensor plate a decent place to mount the unit? I was concerned the vibes may be an issue with it being directly above the motor..

Probly be better if the control balls were facing twards the center of the head block.
I used these with a double ball.

Yeah, I'm gonna wait to fly it until the tempest head block arrives and I can get those fai arms on there. There's just this little bug in my head saying those links will pop off. Other than that, setting up the skookum is simple!!!

May I ask where you got the motor mount from? I'm considering converting an extreme and this should be close.

Thanks

I had gotten it from someone on here in the classfieds. There is a thread on the other site where a guy is in the process of machining them, but they are not cheap.

Here is the new mount that [X]Outlaw made for me! Gets the motor closer to the pinion, making for shorter motor shaft req and more room for batts underneath!
