I see that there is mention that he wants to concentrate more on FAI than 3D so....is it JR or Hirobo?

I'm sure Nick will be answering (or maybe not) a lot of questions next weekend in Orlando at the Blowout.

Perhaps it's not about money and simply about the fun and passion that many of us got into this hobby for in the first place.

I don't think anything pays that well when you have people willing to do it just for fun. That whole supply/demand thing.

But, Mike could be right. It is easy to get burned out on something when it becomes a job. Just one of the dangers of trying to make a living out of a hobby. You lose your downtime activity. I use flying RC helis to unwind from my work. What does Nick do?

I don't know him or his situation. But there does seem to be this belief that really good rc pilots can command really good salaries as if it's the NBA draft. I don't think that actually works out to be true for 99.9% of them. You just got to be in it for the fun.

Maybe he wants to go to school and get himself a real career? Something he can do when the next teenager comes along who is the best pilot in the world.

All this speculation is funny, but I sure hope the young man goes to college. There is always a new hotshot, snot nosed 14 year old kid around the corner.

You will never accomplish much in this hobby without some education. I know some have, but ask them if they wish they had more education and see what they say.

Most forget this is a H-O-B-B-Y.

Nothing is wrong with enjoying this hobby to it's fullest, and nothing is wrong with trying to pick up a few sponsors here and there to make the crashes less painful (and maybe even to get some free airline tickets), but in the end every kid coming up through the ranks needs to realize that if they don't focus on their homework and get a proper education, they will be living with their parents until old age.

This isn't the NFL, NBA, or NASCAR. Go to college. Learn a trade. Fly for fun.

Bobby Watts did good. He went and earned himself an engineering degree, but he uses it for RC. Best of both worlds.

Maybe Nick has decided switching to flying airplane but CYE does not offer any airplane related product. So, he has to leave.

Just like Steve Davis who retired from playing snooker and switched to playing pool.

Just like when Michael Jordan retired the 1st time from baskeball to play pro baseball. yeah that went well.

Switching to flying airplane is NOT the reason.

Just wait until he makes the announcement himself.

This thread reminds me of the media frenzy trying to guess where Lebron James was heading after leaving Cleveland.
