So it will out climb a 700 and go faster in a strait line. I see all the speed records are set with the 700s. You are making me doubt my 700 soon to be purchase. I don't want to buy a 600 and want the 700.

I think you have answered your own question. Buy what you want.

I never said it was faster than a 700. I just said it was very very quick for a 600 size heli.

I dont want to be charging big 700 size batteries at the field hence why I have a 700 Nitro.

The batteries are cheaper for a 600 so I have a few of those and I find them easier to maintain charging using some spare car batts in my van rather than lugging a generator around.

Also are you after a heli for speed runs etc or are you still learning to fly?? I personally wouldn't want to be learning on a 700 electric.

600 EFL in the mail now

Thanks for the input, as I said I was set on the 600 but the price went up a lot over the last 3 months. I was able to get a great deal on one so I went ahead and bought it. I am hoping that I will not be as intimidated to try new things with it as I would have been with the 700. To answer your far as my skills go I am looping and rolling, still working on backwards flight and inverted hover. I love the 3GX for both of these. I will be back here for tips during the build. The reason I got a deal is that I got the ice 1 so I will have to send that back as first order of business. Then I have to figure out what battery to buy to power the 3GX and servos.

Hyperion 2S life RX is just perfect. There is not a lot of space up front (you will find this out ) but the Hyperion fits perfectly. Im running this unregulated as its 6.6V's so servos handle it easy. Removing the regulator eliminates an area known for issues. Most of the guys I know fly 6.6V unregulated life.

p.s. You will love the 600 !

I have just converted to an unregulated Hyperion LiFe 2S 2100mAh pack. Never had a problem with the stock setup but nevertheless, I feel better now .

And regarding the loops, yes, so true. It does them fast, big and straight.

I can't wait, but since winter is settling in, I may as well take my time with the build.

It's still in the box.

Things to buy with the combo

I am up to $600 in batteries and stuff. I have a 1450 mah life in the cart because that is the biggest amainhobbies has, will that be enough or do I need to make seperate order else where? Does the kit come with 2 battery trays? Last question is head speed? I have read most of this thread and what it sounds like to me is the guys running 2200 +- need 105 tail blades to stop tail blowout. Which also leads to higher skids for tail clearance. I like the idea because it less wear and tear, but more parts to buy. Option 2 is what I am planning on 90-100 flat throttle curve higher head speed no blow out more wear and tear.

I did not want the hassle of rx packs so I have a Hercules HV 10amp BEC. Pricey at $100, but rx packs don't make sense to me.

The kit only comes with one battery tray, but I don't see a need to rapidly reload packs, as I would rather let the motor and ESC cool off between flights on warm days.

I plan on trying out the tail blades that come in the kit at a couple of different heads speeds to see if they suit my flying style.

No point in buying extra stuff until you try it for yourself bone stock.

I will be running Futaba servos and a CGY 750 though.

Isn't that contradictory? Can you buy a 600EFL Pro bare?

Thanks wave

I am getting a LIFE 6.6V 1450MAH. I know it is a little low on amps, but I like the less things to fail idea. I didn't buy a separate battery tray or tail blades. I am going to see how it works as you suggest. I agree with you on the letting things cool down between flights, it seems like a pain to keep taking the batteries on and off the tray, but that is the plan. Just as I think I have it all set, my DX7 dies "Backup Error" and what really stinks is that I sold my DX6I to fund this whole project. I was so frustrated that I just ordered a DX8. I think the kit I bought has a ICE 1 does any one know the current turn time on the ICE2 from CC?

It's winter, and there is no way I will shell out the cash for a Jive. The Ice 2 should hopefully work well.

Time will tell, but I have seen no credible reports that the current Ice 2's have any issues.

SCALE FUSELAGES

Scale fuselages advertised to fit T Rex 600's. Do they fit all models of 600's or is there enough difference between the models to make it difficult or impossible to fit on some?. Anyone fitted a scale fuse to a ELF?

When mounting packs do you guys have overhang on both ends of the battery tray?

Reason I'm asking is if I have equal overhang the battery's fit in nice but I'm then nose heavy

If I move packs so one is flush with the front and the over has more overhang then the cables tend to rub on the frames rather than come out of the cut out
Hope this makes sence?

Thanks

Mine are pretty much centered and the wires come out right at the cutout. Mine balances perfect also but I mounted the ESC on the side frames on one side and the RX pack on the side frames opposite the ESC.
I tried to get the ESC where they pictured it but then the canopy would barely go on and was a real PITA to get off.

Matt
