Can a GoPro be used for FPV. I was told that the output is slow so it lags behind what it really happening. Also is the lens ok for FPV.

I use the Go Pro without any issues ... The Lens is good but there are some mods on the market to change it out .. I use mine though straight out of the box.

Yes! This is exactly how I am utilizing my GoPro. That said it is a typical CMOS camera, in that it doesn't handle light changes(going from horizon to sky) and low light conditions as well as a CCD camera.

The lag thing worried me until I actually flew with it. Could not feel any lag, so no worries there. I'm pretty satisfied with it as an FPV camera.

I use a GoPro on a quad copter and a fixed wing. I really notice the 67 mSec lag on the quad.(as reported in RC Heli magazine). I put a CMOS video camera on and the difference is astounding. I could not land the quad with the GoProd dealay. The quad was always ahead of me resulting in tip overs. With the CMOS camera it is much easier to fly and I can stay in control and land with out flipping every time. The fixed wing is easily flown using just the GoPro because the plane so slow to respond to inputs.

Good point.
Ive seen some vids that are flying by GoPro and wondered how they handle the delay close to the ground.
Was looking at a few of the Traxxis buggy FPV vids using the GP for FPV and seemed to be not doing so well with close distances with throttle, and likely due to the lag.

Im just using a mini cam and no GoPro, not doing video fligths just for fun flights, and save my GoPro for ski seasons.

GoPro uses a CMOS sensor, you are confusing CMOS with CCD. Just purchased a RMRC-540, CCD camera to try out. Will let you guys know what i think about it.

In the meantime, this flight was done using a GoPro for downlink video:

Great vid!

Bravo Al,
That was a 330x? Could you list the components to your rig? Working with a 500x and making equipment selections now.
