Let's say I am using a 11T pinion and the throttle curve is set at 90% flat. This gives 2750 rpm.

If I want to increase to 3000rpm, I can change the pinion to 12T. Yet, I can also pump up the throttle curve to 95 or even 100%.

So, which one is the optimal way to increase the desire headspeed?

Hope this is not a stupid question.

Well, it costs nothing to bump up the throttle settings, and you can see immediate results.

Some quick math, at 2750 RPM your motor is turning about 37,500 PM. IF you assume that won't change when moving from a 11T to a 12T pinion, you'd end up with about 3000 RPM for the same throttle setting.

If you believe you can get to the magic 3000 RPM number by simply cranking up your throttle curve 5 points, that would seem the most expedient way to go. I'd guess that going to the 12T pinion would increase your current draw just a bit on the power system, and you'd lose a small amount of flight time.

Bump up your throttle curve and see what that does for you.

Brushless motors and ESC's are most efficient when running at 100%. I doubt you will gain 250rpm by going from 90% to 100%.

2 things I would do, 12T pinion at 100% or 12T at 100-95-90-95-100 with 10% cyclic to throttle mixing.

60% of the time, it works every time!
