I need to know what pinion should I use on my 450 for 3D flying and what brand of pinion should I get?

Here is my set up:

Scorpion HKII-2221-10 motor
Lipo 4S 1800mah 45C
CC ICE50 running non governored mode.
BeastX FBL

simple...you'll want 3000 RPM on the head, you have a 3000 Kva motor, a nominal pack volt of 14.8 V, and a 150 tooth main gear...calculated as follows:

3000 (KVA) * 14.8 (~ pack V) = 44,400 (motor rpm)

44,400 * .85 (target value) = 37,740 (motor target RPM)

37,740 / 3000 (target HS) = 12.58 to 1 (target gear ratio)

150 (main tooth) / 12.58 = 11.92 (target pinion tooth count)

so to get the HS you want to do 3D you need a 12 tooth pinion. Get a Revco Pinion

NO GOVERNOR!!!! Electric governor = energy vampire. Plus there is ABSOLUTLY no need for a governor on an electric heli.

set your stunt one T curve to 85-80-85 and ST 2 to 95-90-95. Get into a hover and tach the bird, make T curve adjustment from there. Only 5% value difference needed to work GREAT

for example I started with 85-80-85 on my 450 and wound up at 92-87-92 to get my proper HS

hexiangle, thanks for the info. The pinion I have is 11T; the motor runs at 2750rpm and my throttle curve is at 90% flat, but I do not find it good enough for 3D. So hopefully changing to 12T will make the difference.

Even 3000rpm on a 450 is tame, most go for 3500+ these days. Your 11T should be giving you around 3200 at 100% which should be enough for 3D, 12T at 100% should give you around 3500.
