Got out to the field today with my OLD SCHOOL X-Cell 60 1001, ball bearing gyro, no less! I am still way out of practice, just hovering, and slow figure 8s, ya, I know, but I'm diggin it! Got a new 8fg showing up Monday afternoon, will be retiring the old 7UHFS soon!

Remember that setup well. Had a Kraft Gyro. Started with a used Schluter Heliboy and then got the X-Cell 60 when they came out (My first new heli with the exception of my GMP Cricket which I don't count). The only thing I remember about it is how smooth it ran.

I bought an X-cell 60 1001 when they first came out also.
I had a Futaba ball bearing rate gyro too.

What a big difference these heading hold gyros make.

That would be my next investment. It will really speed up the learning curve.

Thanks, TheWoodCrafter

Have enough parts on hand to build another 1001, frames and all. Looking forward to the 8FG, have a GY520 in a Graphite, new engine and such.... just would like to join the 21st century! Tired of planks, too easy!

Dan,

Sell that stuff on the antique forum, buy a new bird and come join us in the 21 century. It is great fun.

Thanks, TheWoodCrafter
