There also used to be long debates between flybars and flybarless. Uhh, last major event I attended,(the Heli Freak SoCal event), FBL helis were in the majority.

Plus every major 3D competition this year was dominated by electric FBL helis.

Nothin' wrong with nitro (it's a hobby...fly what makes you happy). But the debates will continue to be more scarce, as the reality continues to set in (as it has with the FB vs. FBL debate).

Totally different than FB vs FBL.

I tried FB and FBL and chose FBL because it has a better feel and because it is the way things are going so it will be cheaper and easier to operate.

I tried nitro and electric and chose nitro because electric has no soul.
It feels like a toy TO ME. Or even a simulation of a real nitro heli...TO ME.The simulation may be faster and more powerful but then again, the helis on Phoenix sim are faster even than electrics...So why don't all you power/speed freaks just stick to the LCD screen?Talk about no mess, hassle free.

I wouldn't want a large electric heli if the batteries, chargers and power supplies were free and someone took care of all the charging FOR me.

The price of nitro will have to more than double for me to stop flying it and in that case I'll be done with helis altogether.

The small electrics like 425mm machines and smaller are cool but I'll not have anything with those 5000mAh packs in my home. Not even guests.

I do have packs of 5000mah laying all around my hobby room and keep telling myself need to fig something to do with them. For now I just bought a ammo can at gun show.

Edit: lol on battery laying around..slow at the punch
But still see a potential hazard catching on fire.

The ESC's tend to take care of their own cremations.lol...

I agree though.
I can't stand to fly electric but have zero interest if someone else does.
I'm have even less interest in others opinion on what I fly.

I can watch E flights.
The power is impressive but I have to use the mute button

Mute

There is a "mute" button? Well I didnt know that.. But then again, Im deaf and wouldnt know

I must admit,.. my girlfriend says that my Logo 400 at 2800RPMS with flat curves with Scorpion 1400 sounds like a high pitched leaf blower... Says its really loud and I shouldnt be testing climbout powers in my front carport at 5am in fear of waking up my neighbors who can.... well.. "hear"... That, and those 65C packs really make climbouts a very giggly affair for me

One of the worst threads there was it all became about some nitro heli and guy who made it and all there buds slamming on anyone who did not acknowledge it as best thing since sliced bread. I for one member am happy to not see it anymore and some here are now trying to make this thread into a debate now is it winter allready?

I know you don't mean me because I truly don't care what anyone uses.lol...

I get annoyed when people flat out lie or overly exaggerate stuff but I really don't care what you fly as long as you're flying and enjoying it.

The fact that I fly nitro should not bother anyone but it does and I will never get that.

What would it take to end this long debate?
Battery packs lasting as long as a tank of fuel?
Not sure there is anything...

It can't end because if electric could fly for an hour at twice the power of nitro,I wouldn't care...I would still prefer nitro.

I'm sure I'm not alone.
I dislike E helis for reasons other than flight times.
They don't have an engine...no soul. Not welcome in my stable.

They both have their place and its preference who likes what (I still like my flybar ) there really is no debate needed as its just opinions and preferences of each particular person. Thats the reason a thread just goes on and on and on because no matter how much you argue, rant and rave someone who loves nitro will fly them and someone who doesn't won't.....the end.

I'm not sure why it is a debate. It's a hobby. You do what entertains you and don't worry what some other person's aspect of the hobby is. No reason to insult each other over it or put down other peoples hobbies. Some people (such as those with above average intelligence) just like the clearly superior feel of a flybarless electic heli. While other people (such as the Amish and hidden tribes in the rainforest) like fb and nitro helis. And that's ok. Especially since they aren't likely to read this. They are people too and we should respect their choices. So the next time you see a guy flying a FB heli, don't mock them or make them feel bad over it. Don't try to offer them other modern amenities as if they have never seen them as this will appear condescending. Just enjoy the hobby and all the little niches that make people tick. But do it away from me. I hate people.
