It's great that everyone has a camera of some sort on them like a quick drawn gunslinger of the old west. lol

I wish we had this technology when I was younger to catch all of those memorys and moments that are stuck in my mind that I tell my friends with such enthusiasm.

Anyone have one of those moments that got caught on camera or film they want to share?

Yes it's very cool that we have this now. When I was a kid I had very few pictures taken of me and my family. Now my wife has several albums for each kid.

When I flew helicopters for a living I carried a camera (not digital) everywhere, I got some great photos and glad I did it. I'll have to scan some and post them.

RC heli crash pics are cool too. A friend took a pic one time of a guy flying a Raptor 50 and he crashed. The photo showed the tail belt in mid-air, very cool. Right time, right place for sure.

Is this the kind of pictures you are talking?

Me, learning how to hover a Baron 20 in around 1985.
I found some of these type pictures stashed away in an old album.
Glad I have them.

Here is one from a fun fly I went to in 1986 located in Merced Ca.
That is Robert Gorham of GMP.

Thanks, TheWoodCrafter

Me, somewhere between 1980 and 1982, flying my Heliboy at Cashman's Nursery -- a very nice sod farm, near Bozeman, Montana. Looks to be a nice late-fall afternoon.

Subaru GL 4WD Wagon. It's either my 1980 or 1982...they both pretty much looked the same. Hood's open so I can hook my starter up to the battery ...

Thats when I got started ,in 1981 but in was with slabs. MY first heli was some piece of crap from Tower Hobbies that you had to start from behind with a starter cone.

Becky did a little 'flying compilation' video a while back showing her progress in learning to fly a 450. Today my lovely wife flies a Logo 600 and we look back on those days together with a smile. We've taken hundreds of videos of each other's helis, and friends', and thousands of pictures of our birds over the years. Some day we might have to do a nice video like she did of her learning. Here it is for you to enjoy. And before you light us up, it was windy outside and she wanted to try taking the training gear off in the garage. STUPID idea. But the video was almost worth the repairs to the bird and the garage.

Here is a couple shots of my first Heli circa 1997. Its a Schluter Junior 50. wire drive tail that was prone to slipping and a mechanical gyro you could hear spin up. Still have it, maybe some day I will put modern electronics in it and fly it again.

Yep that was my first one also a Junior 50. Wooden front frame, and a kraft gyro that you could hear spin up.That was my first attempt at helis and then a few years later I got that thing from tower when I really got started in them.

Out there somewhere is a picture of Robert Gorham, hovering a model nose in and kissing the underside of the canopy while hovering it himself. Should be around 1985 or so.

Man, I remember those shorts (not in yellow though). Everybody had those on, in PE classes. What is up with that curve up hem??

Then again, bell bottoms and polyester shirts were in, back then.

I've seen that one before.

Now see if you can find the one of him adjusting the needle valve while hovering. One hand on the transmitter, one hand on the needle valve.

Thanks, TheWoodCrafter
