It dropped top 32F and rain turned to snow last night. about 2 inches worth. This morning all was white but the snow quickly melted on most surfaces except in the shade.

With a high of about 45F, i had to put on my winter parka and wear some gloves to the field. Took my Spectra and stood in the sunlight to get some warmth and got 3 flights in that cold crisp air! These machines love the cold they just fly with even more power the colder it gets I was not very used to flying with gloves and felt out of touch with the machine though I'll get used to it again. However, this winter I'm thinking of building a heater for my radio glove that would plug into the cigarette lighter so I can keep my hands warm while I sit on the tailgate of my truck and fly.

By the way, that helicommand 3SX unit with the rescue mode thing is so cool, I can't get enough of it. One flick of a momentary switch and your heli is level from any attitude. Besides something I invented, its an awesome feature to have in case you get disoriented or can't see it well due to poor lighting.

Tomorrow sounds like more snow, some saying maybe even 6 inches. Guess we'll see. Hey at least great news, all the mosquitos and bugs are gone! I flew today with no insects in sight!

Hey it is what it is
If I get enough snow (hoping for it), I think I'm going to dig a little zig zag channel in my driveway for the kids to walk through to get to my front door step for trick or treat.

It will be quite funny watching them navigating the shovelled line all the way around. I may even make it narrow so its one way only!!

We've had the usual wind and rain over here.

Not that cold though (59F)ish during the day.

Hope we don't get much snow this year - it's a total pain as the UK doesn't really gear up for it.

More than a few inches and everything comes to a halt.

LOL.

We did have a little bit of the white stuff last year and we don't usually get much.

Winter in the cotswolds - quite pretty I suppose really

Gosh rbort, I really miss all that rain, sleet, snow, ice, freezing wind.

I think about the hereafter. I go somewhere to get something, then wonder what I'm here after ?

Did you have to adjust your engine needles a bit richer for the drop in air temp?

I have not had to adjust my engine yet
Still running quite well where the needles have been at.

A tree fell down and chopped the power lines last night around 11pm. Was eating dinner and had a candle going with the wine and all of a sudden the only light was from the candle! Finished dinner casually by candle light and spent part of the day today helping the neighbor chop up his downed trees and get them out of the road.

My 1200w inverter came in handy, I've got it hooked to the car battery and backfeeding into the garage outlet. I shut the main off at the panel and now I can walk around and turn on lights in the house (well 1/2 of it) from this. The battery doesn't last forever eventually I have to start the engine of the car to keep going but its a good source for light

The crews came today to fix the downed wires, but they needed 3 crew sets to do it and only 1 set showed, so they left. Tomorrow will be another chance to get it fixed, Meanwhile I'm making out OK no worries here used to this sort of thing from my childhood.

In a restaurant now but when I get home I might light the other 1/2 of the house so I can boot up my PC.

Would have gone flying today but it was way too windy. However tomorrow promises to be nice (only 3mph in the forecast) so I might go spend the day at the field and maybe when I get back the power will be restored

Still got no power...!
The temp in the house is now 54F. The sun is out and its 50 outside with melting snow. Last night it was in the 20's with snow very crusty when you walked on it.

Looks like its gonna be a dark & cold neighborhood for trick or treat unless they fix the power today. I got my TX cases outside solar charging and luckily I don't have to charge my helis before flight so I think I'm going to go out and spend the day in the sun flying. There isn't much wind to speak of which is a great thing.

Hopefully we'll be able to warm up the house tonight. All the Mrs. could do last night was complain that she was SO cold in bed, and she even had long underwear on, socks and a sweatshirt to boot! Demanded another blanket (I got 3 on there already), I told he she is HIGH MAINTENANCE and got it for her...and last night it was 59 in the house....tonight will only be colder if the power doesn't come back

Oh My Gosh... 59....
I am quite sure Nadine and I would be driving South (or some direction) looking for a hotel that had power before we would endure another night of mid 50's INSIDE the house...

We at least have a gas fireplace that can put some heat into the living room in a pinch...

Here is hoping the Electric Company get to you soon...

On the other end of the extreme... When we got home from IRCHA on Monday evening at 5:30 pm (outside air temp 106) I opened the garage door to find that the house was 95 degrees inside.... Apparently the main floor AC unit quit at some time during our 12 day trip to IRCHA. Got it fixed by 6:30 pm and by 10:00 pm it was cooled way down to 89.... It took 24 hours to get the house back down to 78 degrees and then the tile floors and counter tops were still warm to the touch for two days...

I Just wonder how the founding fathers and pioneers of our country survived with some of the weather extreme's...

I got heat now
Figured out a way to power feed the house through the neighbor's generator. Got as low as 54 here in the house but rising steadily now. I put 5 gallons of gas in the neighbor's generator and gave him another 5 for tomorrow. The thing will run for about 7 hours on the 5 gallons, so I should be OK until about 11pm tonight. We're not scheduled to get power back until 11:45pm on November 3rd. 11:45 pm eh? Looks like the power company wanted to give themselves just about all of the day on the 3rd. Maybe they look bad if they went into the 4th with no power, who knows? This way we'll be without power for 5 days if they wait until the last minute.

In the meantime went out today and flew. Solar panels charged my TX's nicely this morning and I got 5 tanks through between 2 helis. What a beautiful day, some melting snow, bambi and her buddy dancing around the field in front of me (when they noticed the heli on the ground idling, they decided to duck in the bushes for cover

About an hour later a bambi killer came by. I looked at him and said "oh no, don't shoot bambi!" He was all in a camouflage suit with a bow. He assured me he wouldn't

Good news with getting some heat in the house.
Those cabling guys must be so busy.
I got 5 tanks through between 2 helis
The muffler/gaskets still intact I take it?
