The diabolo is beefier than the TDR, you can jam a more powerfull motor in it without frame flexing issues.

So i guess you are right, nothing ground breaking here, but its stronger and different

The TDR is still more aerodynamic.

I have only done about 4 flights on the diabolo, I have now taken it out of the air as i am waiting on new servos and vbar and pinions and pitch arm for tail servo to get it setup right.

I will comment later on how it flies.

We are currently working on different designs. Standard will be a single colored canopy either in white, yellow, orange, red, green or black with the "Diabolo" decal.Windshield is normally black, but alterantively possible in different colors. Then there is work on painted designs and also on foil designs like this one:

(Translation: For mounting canopy move swash to minimum, press canopy with your left hand to the edge of front landing bow and then puch nose upwards.)

Now that's what I call a cool canopy. If it was available in the first batch I would most likely have one by now. I predict the 2012 IRCHA Speed Cup will be a close fought battle of real speed machines

Hopefully Gerd puts the english version of that video up...

But for those that dont know the canopy mount has this delrin socket for the front mounts in the canopy. So he is showing how quickly you can align the and snap the front canopy mounts in place and then lock it down in the back using the very simple to use rubber gromets mounts.

So open up the canopys, slide it in place, push it on till the front clips lock into place and then attach the gromet mounts.

Simple

I had a 50-50 chance of guessing right.
I almost shed a tear on the landing

EDIT:
I realize now after reading the whole account it was an emergency landing as John tell's he forgot to tighten the boom clamps!

HC, Did you entered the Speed Cup?
It looked like a rainy day.

Yep entered speed cup, came 2nd (but got the trophy as the 1st was gav b kasasma factory pilot with dedicated heli), 226KMH!!!

Did the new maiden again. The initial flights last week i did not have fun, i did not have time to get tail geomtry good and used cheap savox servos, it was not very locked in. Also with the 4535 it was a little porky and rpm too high.

So i re maiden with a 4525le, vbar blueline (to tidy cables), bls253 and 251 on 6v via jive bec, 1950rpm and 14 deg, did about 2 flights with my control panel and got it locked in!

Then off for the real test flight! OMFG!!! It hammers and was so locked in. Everything felt really natural and smacks around good.
John is right the tdr feels a little synthetic but precise, this has a natural feel to it and a little character.

So all in all i love it!! Flies supurb!
It has a unique character about it.

Many have commented its similar to tdr but there are lots of differences.
I must admit when i first got it i was unsure if i will keep it but after flying it, its gonna stay.

Future plans 16s yge320a esc, vbar gov helijive and croco motor!!!

Congrats on your speed cup flight!

But yes like with any heli avionics comes first, you go to have the good stuff installed to get the good solid feel your expecting.

I 100% agree with you on the feel. It just a good and very predictable heli to fly. It flips and rolls around its axis very nicely...some helis don't feel very nice to me this one is perfect. I also love how quiet it is.

To be honest i think i got soft on the TDR, started flying them a little soft, the diabolo i showed no mercy and it loved it, it truely is the DEVIL!!!

I am down to 3:30 flight time on 12S 4400MAH!!! LOL, massive powerloops, most of the time i hang on 14deg of pitch!!!

LOL

I spent a lot of time on the TDR, i think i need to punish and fly them hard!

Thank you!

It is Gerd's canopy design as shown on the other thread. I am lucky to own one like it. It is a custom canopy directly from Minicopter. The colors don't quite come true on my computer screen but the orange is very bright, fluorecent like.

More pics:

Actually, the pics belong to the build thread, but for some reason, documents do not show as updated on the "START HERE"
feature of runryder, and the only way to say a document thread is been updated is by posting it in another thread.

Ive got the same one coming! Its sexy as!

When putting canopy on and off make sure the swash is down low, otherwise you risk cracking it (already cracked my stock one)
