A beater heli is well worthwhile. Some call it the back up heli. It is much easier to practice new maneuvers when it isn't with your "favorite bird". A back up also saves some money by allowing you to fly while you are waiting for parts. I used to keep a lot of spares to minimize down time during repairs and maintenance. If you have a back-up heli you can just order what you need when you need it.

One thing Ive found with helis when you crash and rebuild correctly they still look brand new, so beat what you have and have fun .If anything just buy some common spares . When I had multiples of one heli so when I crashed one I had a back up I found that I had two crashed helis to repair

Dangerous, hell yes it's dangerous. That's why when this heli flys,it's at the far end of the field,and all eyes are watching the sky. The other side looks just as good.

I use beater Cheapo Trex canopy's on my Logo 600 so I can keep my 150$ canopy clean for fun fly's.

Always good to have one heli in your fleet that you have no fear of using to test your limits, if you like that sort of thing

I remember seeing a picture of a Trex 600 a few years ago that had a wooden drawer knob as the head button. Some guy in Las Vegas - Put a new main gear on that Raptor and it'd look better than that Trex
