helixangle rrKey Veteran Mamaroneck, NY - USA | How is it we do not have as of yet an octocopter capable of inverted flight?seems simple from the mechanical perspective, one rotor up, one rotor down and so on around the "circle".is it that the software would be too cost prohibitive? Or that this just isn't possible.regardless I think equal forces, half providing lift and the other half providing negative lift, would make for a more stable platform.Or, does this already exist? If anyone knows could you post a linkThanksBe sure the juice is worth the sqweeze

![]() rrProfessor Lucasville,Ohio | They're all DIY's and only a couple that I know of have hovered inverted successfully.I stumbled on them in my quad project. This one is not inverted yet but it is airborne.http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1222990There's a couple videos on YT with inverted stuff.

helixangle rrKey Veteran Mamaroneck, NY - USA | you could have a single motor, powering however many "legs" 4, 5, 6, 10 etc, if we adopt a trex boom-tt-tail-rotor style leg.with individual servos as control per leg?WHEN DO WE START!Torque tube BABY

dahld rrKey Veteran Bakersfield, CA, USA | The concept of having multiple small rotor discs powered by a single central motor, with each disc having its own collective pitch control, allowing for a simple yet fully 3D capable quad, hex or octo machine, is already under development by a company here in the U.S. (probably others as well I'd bet).I'm not sure they'd want me plastering their name all over the Forum at this point (I'll leave that to them...but chances are you've heard of them if you're in the heli hobby). But I've seen in person some of their concept machines. This whole type of aerial machine is still in its infancy, but it's likely to explode once the bugs get worked out.I'm not sure how you'd keep orientation on such a machine doing 3D however (-: Kyle has flown AP professionally for a media company using a Quadrocopter's "Hexacopter XL", and even just flying straight and level, once the machine gets very far away, if the machine didn't have GPS with altitude and position hold, and an autonomous "come home" ability, it would be practically impossible to operate safely...of course we're talking on a professional basis carrying some very expensive equipment on-board (not to mention the machine itself is very costly), flying high and at long distances sometimes, and people paying money expecting results involved. But for "fun" with little at risk, trying 3D with one might be worth a few seconds of excitement---ha!!(-: Dave
