thanks for all the replys guys....well i didnt think i was running too lean because i did richen the needle after fixing the engine...also did check engine with temp gun...but im told by one of the replys thats not always a sure thing either....i never used a piston locking tool....the only thing i did was change fuels.....im ready to fix the engine again and ill make sure i dont have a lean run and see what happens now......thanks to all who replied ...Joe

hmmm,, can you post us photos of both Pistons ??

and does your Engine have a Squash Band (Shim) to seal the head

I have actually had the same issue twice with this engine. Now after running for a minute or so on the first flight of the day, I land and place my finger on the side of the case right above the mount. If you can hold your finger there for about a second it is good. If you can't then it is too lean. I feel this is the best way, as it works on all engines and is fast.
