i have a trex 600 heli bug. i have flown it for 9 months with not crashes. then one day before a flight i realized the auto rotation gear was locked up. so i ordered a new one way bearing and sleeve. i installed the bearing and sleeve and use tri-flow on the one way bearing. after 2 flights the auto unit locked up again. this time i freed up the sleeve, lubed and reinstalled. 2 flights and it locked up again. i freed it up and went out today to fly and after the first flight it locked up. i brought it home and degreesed the bearing, and put a light coating of tri-flow again on the bearing. i then took 600 wet dry sand paper and went around the sleeve. all is smooth with the unit again and ready for a test flight.

but what is up with the bearing. i am tired of buying new bearing and then locking up and then tired of freeing up the unit before the flights. is there a problem with these bearing??

Helibug as in gas conversion, right?
It could very well be the higher torsional vibration from your gasser engine is causing all the issue.

If you are the only "helibug" user suffering from this, your engine must be running like the king of jackhammers.

I would suspect this would be common with al these conversions as these one way bearings are not made to take high impact loads, but to live in a smoother (less torque) environment.

Try tweaking the engine to run smoother, and/or find a compatible better quality one way.

I've seen the one-way lock on near brand new 600's that have never hit anything. There is a new design though I have no experience with it. I do hope it addresses the locked up 550/600 one-way.
I haven't helped anyone with this yet but it might be worth making a call to your dealer and ask them if this would help. Not sure if it'll work with the Nitro gears.

Is there a radial bearing on the bottom that we can't see in the picture ? I have always been disappointed with a one-way without any radial bearings or even bronze bushings.

well i took my KDE auto hub out, i degreased the one way bearing real well, then took my air compressor and blew out the bearing, then wiped the bearing down. degreased it again and blew it out, then i put a light amount of tri-flow oil on the one way bearing. i flew my trex helibug gasser tuesday and after the first flight, the auto unit worked. i flew a second flight and the gearing is still free. if it locks up again, i think i will go to boca bearings for help.
