Having owned an Align starter since the day it came out, I can say why it isn't mentioned. Jackhammering, not spinning fast enough, the one way crapping out. For me it wasn't an issue until it gets cold out. I thought maybe the old Outrage 2200 batt I have in it is finally giving up the ghost but I tried a fresh batt and the speed was the same. Also, the one way started to die in fall of 2010 but it was usable. Now I have finally had to order another shaft unit as it barely grabs any more.
this is what I used prior to the align starter which works great; why no align?
The other thing I am doing is building a backup starter. I have had a yellow Sullivan, brand new, laying around. I am going to build a simple 4 cell lipo setup for it. My dead Align starter shaft chucks into the rubber cup just fine. Heck, I hooked up a 3 cell lipo to the Sullivan, the same one I tried in the Align starter and it spun my helicopter noticeably faster. I am thinking a 4 cell lipo will work just fine. I can use this starter when it is cold out and the lipo power sag won't be as big a deal.
