a friend just bought a raptor 30 kit and we were wondering what upgrades should be made. i was thinking the newer tail hub with angular bearings and the auto rotation gear. if the auto gear is changed from 30 to 50 what else is needed for that if any? also any other sugestions would be great. my bud wants to keep it a 30 though. Assuming we are speaking about the 30v2, not a single upgrade is necessary. Build it per the manual and go have fun. This is a very mature design and they fly great and are very, very durable.

but what about the auto gear? i think it would be a good idea to upgrade that part in the event of a flame out or well... you know.

You really don't want it on a R30 with 550mm. blades. A driven tail rotor will soak up head speed on an Auto, they weather vain just fine when doing Autos.

BTW this raptor is a V1. after looking at the comparison chart for parts its def V1. so im upgrading the tail hub, angular bearings and tail blade grips. i wanna upgrade this so it can auto. is the only part needing replace for that the PV0379 auto gear used on all the 50's accept the titan SE?

The Titan SE uses a 3.5mm. shank with a M3 nut to hold everything to the main shaft.

Edit: If you want to convert to the auto rotation pulley all you need is the PV0379.

ok help me out here guys. i need to upgrade the head on this V1 R30 cuz getting parts doesnt look good. this heli has the spindle with the lock nuts on the ends and self tapping screws that go into the blade grips to hold the bearings in place. would like to get this head up to at least a V2 R30 in that area. what parts are needed to do this? Thanks yall John

Btw im helping a friend build this heli and would like to log the newer replacement parts in the manual for him so he can get them from the hobby store when needed and make life a little simpler. this is his 2nd heli, first nitro.

Fly it as a V1 head until you crash. It's simple enough to change over to V2 but no reason not to fly what you have until it's used up.

+1 for MartyH, he is right!

V2head and metal elevator set up, I upgrade if it was mine; just autorotate it strait into the wind, it is a sweet heli.

My 2 cents.

I would keep an eye on the main head block and main blade grips. Keep the head speed down so as not to over stress the head. If you are trying for 3D I would change the head out to a metal head. Once I was flying my raptor and the head block broke at the bolt holding it to the shaft. The whole head flew off and went about 30 ft. in the air just like it was flying, it was really something to watch. You are right about parts for the V1 they are hard to find, but a lot of the V2 parts will fit. Good luck and have fun flying.
