Why does the 400 have a regular gear instead of herringbone?

They're an old design. Basically a Logo 10 that was shortened. This design was before the herringbone gears and my guess is that it would cost too much to make molds for new gears.

Ahh

I was a little disappointed. After building Kasamas and henseleits, it feels and looks like a toy. I'm just putting mine together and I thought it would have the nice gears. I probably wouldn't of bought it had I realized.

Maybe if there's enough demand we could ask Mikado

But, the Logo 400 don't need a herringbone gears. You could convert it to Mod 0.7. But for most of us the Mod 0.5 will hold.

I'm sure it doesn't need it

I just thought it had them. I purchased a new se kit without ever seeing one. Not the end of the world.

The only thing that I would change from that is I would useable Futaba BLS251 tail servo or another full sized tail servo. Also if you use the CC Ice ESC and the Scorpion HK-3026-1400 motor you will need a 21 tooth pinion for proper governing if using the governer in the ESC.

I use the same setup in my Logo 400 with the exception of the BLS251 tail servo and I use a CC Ice 100 ESC governed to 2650 rpms on the head and it is a power house.

Hope this helps

Yes, Scorion 1400kv motor with 18t.

Maybe you have the new mod gear with lower teeth count?

Go to http://www.readyheli.com

There is a headspeed calculator , plug your values in.. 21t pinion would give you silly RPM's on the head with the Scorpion 1400.. 18T will give about 2750 (give/take a few)on the head.

Hope that helps..

+1 on the bls 251.

though i always had good luck with the 9257 on 500 size helis, i could never get it to lock in on my 400. eventually i put a 9254, and the problem was gone. if you go full size though, just put a bls251 on, much better servo, especially if your running 473s and doing any kind of hard 3d.
