I will feel much better in their ability to maintain replacement parts and the such for the future...
They still make parts for the XCell 1005 gas graphite, its been out of manufacture for about 7 years now

the crash parts for the gas model are mostly the same parts as would be found on the glow/electric so there will be plenty of those

why not gather all the stuff you'll need, motor, exhaust, electronics, blades, etc so when it comes out you can build it an a couple of days and start flying it?

If you're not flying a gasoline helicopter
You're paying 10 times too much for fuel!!

There have not been any dates set as to the release. We had approximates only and everyone is working hard to get kits out as quickly as possible.

As I mentioned in a previous post the first Whiplash nitros will ship to Team Pilots first so that feedback can be given prior to a full public release.

Those first kits should be going out next week, public release should follow shortly after.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

As for blade choice goes, 690's have been the choice. But recently we started playing with lower headspeeds (1850) and the model is near perfect with 710's.

This is of course in the E Whiplash.
Sorry just now getting around to reading this thread, but this is what I was going to ask about the nitro:
- is it being tested with lower headspeeds and FAI style blades (i.e. F3C 710's like the Curtis blades)?
- is the flybar head being tested as extensively as the FBL head?

I'm sort of considering the nitro as an F3C style machine if it works well in that configuration. I.e. flybar, lower headspeeds with soft dampeners, etc....

I'm not interested in 3D performance that much, mainly how the nitro is for F3C style flying? I'm sure the electric works well, but I'm leaning more towards the flybar nitro....

Thanks,
LS

There has been testing of the head but not in F3C configuration at this time. Bobby tested the FB head quite a bit and there are a number of configurations to fit both 3D/F3C and so on.

I personally have flown 196 gram 710's on the E model with a hs of 1850, this was only on the FBL version not the FB. However, I am unable to elaborate on how the model performs with this setup so as not to violate forum rules.

Since the demand has been for the FBL kits at this time that is where the focus has remained, I will get a specific answer for you as to when we might be able to expect to see the FB head in full production.

you'll be able to set all 3 of the models up for contest style of flying if thats what you want.

paddle and blade weights, mixing ratios and damping as well as radio setup have a lot to do with tuning the model.

D'oh... ok, thanks Mike. Yeah looks like the whole world is forcing us into FBL regardless. Fortunately, I'm too poor of a pilot right now to really require one or the other lol, so I may just end up buckling under and going with the FBL flow (I'll see how my CGY 750 works out on my trex electric when it comes in).

The Curtis 710 V2's are my favorite blades also so glad to hear they work well on the whippy....

Thanks,
LS

One other quick question. Not so much when the kits will be out, but when will the parts be available? I've seen the electric Whippys already in stock in some places, but haven't seen any mention of parts being in stock.

Is there a lag there or are the parts available at the same time as the kits as well?

Thanks,
LS

Gear Ratios

From previous posts it seems that the kits, and let me focus on the gasser, will be delivered with only one GR- and I am understanding that that GR was the middle of three (for gasser).

Will the WhipGas (I like gWhip instead) be orderable with a GR selection? Seems like this was not an option, but I'll ask again.

Can/should I order an alternate pinion before the gWhip ships so that I can build it my way right off the bat?
