Last year at the end of October was too cold. Maybe we'll have better luck at the beginning of the month?!

All are invited to come out and work on model setups, technique, etc. No specific schedule is planned as of yet, but we can certainly run some rounds on Saturday. Bring those FBL models too.

Directions and field information can be found at the Huntsville Heli Flyer's club website:

http://www.huntsvilleheliflyers.org/

Recommended accomodations:

Microtel Inn & Suites
1820 Chase Creek Row Northeast
Huntsville, AL 35811
(256) 859-6655

Stay tuned for updates. Look forward to seeing everyone in October!

Daniel

Hmm...I gotta play this right. That weekend is both my wife's birthday and our 11yr anniversary

Count me as a "maybe" as in May Be a Eunuch if I show up.

I will try and get there Friday and need to leave by noon Saturday; daughters 16th birthday party I really cannot be absent.

Probably won't matter since my ESC's are being updated.

Hotels...

In general, the further West you go on University Drive the better the hotels get... but that's also further from the field

I think Dave and Gordie have stayed at the Best Western?

Best Western Plus Rocket City Inn and Suites

The Comfort Inn Huntsville might be another decent lower priced hotel.

Any suggestions from the group?

Results...

We had planned to fly a couple rounds on Saturday just for the heck of it, but elected to just fly... Often! Which was a great use of the weather. Tim came in and flew with us Friday and shared his stories of The WCs. Gordie and Dad arrived later that afternoon and broke out their ENVs to finish out the day. Dennis and Don met up with us Saturday morning and between the lot of us we averaged about 8 flights each!

Dennis worked setups on his 700Es. Testing both LE control and a TE pitch control geometry in the wind to decide which he preferred. Dad, Gordie, and I worked through p-mixes for our ENVs and learned a lot about what that model likes in aeros. By the end of the day on Sunday we had them flying (and hovering) really well. Don broke in a new caller Sunday afternoon, enjoying some flights with his son

It really was a great weekend for a contest clinic. The weather this time of year is great in North AL. We'll be hosting it again this time next year.

Good seeing everyone this weekend,

Daniel
