Watched an in depth documentary last night, IMHO we can't win this one... As soon as we pass power to Afghan forces the Taliban rise and take over again...(Half the Taliban leaders are related to the "friendly" Afghan forces leaders) It's a bit like a body riddled with cancer, you treat one bit, move to treat another part and it moves back into the first bit! Whilst I support our guys on the floor out there, our wondrous leaders need to have a serious rethink on the whole chuffin mess...

Sad thing is with these"Little wars"as long as there is money in bombs and bullets they will not go away. After the defeat of Russia, common sense would dictate the war could not be won.Who were the last to beat Afghans in their own country?

The more people who realise that the reasons for these wars are not what our politicians purport them to be, and how pointless they are, the more chance there is that we'll stop fighting them - since any politician's first priority is to get people to vote for them.

I think more and more people are seeing the falseness of the propaganda that our politicians and mainstream media manufacture, which is to give us an identifiable enemy, which we then must fight, which in turn gives the illusion that our politicians are ''protecting'' us.

One need only look at the evidence to see that. We invaded Iraq, but for what purpose? We all know that we were lied to when we were told that Saddam had WMD's, and we know that he was not a threat to us. We invade Afghanistan after 9/11 to go after Al Qaeda, so why are we still there? Now we're fighting the Taliban who are simply defending their homeland from a foreign occupier, so it should come as no surprise that the vast majority of Afghans support the Taliban, as resentment to our occupation grows. And, what is Al Qaeda? It's certainly more of an idea than an organisation, and you can't kill an idea with an army.

What we really need are honest politicians, who see things for what they are, and who aren't afraid of telling the truth.

That is seemingly more impossible with every passing day!

Anything is possible if you don't know what you are talking about!
