My tail blades bog during anticlockwise stall turn. However, it is ok during stationary piro. The heli just barely turn when I apply left rudder. My throttle curve is 90% flat; not sure about the headspeed. My tail is set mechanically neutral in non heading hold. The tail blades are 92mm kbdd.

Any idea?

That is a good question. I never perform any piro related configuration in the BeastX. I set the piro rate in my TX using the dual rate.

I use VBAr and there is a tail optimization. It basically adjusts the piro rate so the feel is symmetrical. I'm sure its the same with the BeastX.

Also, try resetting the D/R back to 100% on the tail just to see if that changes anything.

I know back with tail gyros we'd adjust the tail ATV to adjust the piro rate. Not sure if this is the same for FBL units.. I'm sure the concept will work on FBL units, but I think you're supposed to be adjusting the ATV, not D/R.

I am reading the BeastX manual, and indeed there is a step N called "Setting the piro optimization direction". Interestingly enough, I never perform this setup in my other two helis, but they are doing ok in the piro.

So my question is that if I do not perform this step, am I anticipating the problem I am now having?

Well, if you continue without the piro optimization you should at least go back and reset your D/R. I think that may be why your tail is limited on left inputs.

If I'm not mistaken, D/R will limit your throw and ATV will influence the piro speed.

I just go into the BeastX cfg and check. The piro optimization direction is indeed reversed. I reverse it back and keep the DR the same. I will see how it goes tomorrow.

How did it go Rudy? My Trex 600 was doing the same thing and I noticed that my bracket that holds the tail slider had the bolts loosen up causing the slider to not go to end points during hard loaded moves to the right like knife edge piros.

High Voltage just works better

The piro optimization does not help much. My tail is still bogging when doing the vertical stall turn. However, the upright piro is ok in either direction.

The piro optimization is only for the rotor disc to keep the heli in one spot during a piro not the tail.. Try different tail blades also if the tail heading hold gain is too high it can cause this. Have you updated to v3? It's better with the tail and flies better. Also check for binding in the tail.

I reexamine the whole tail assembly and I think I find the problem. Somehow the grub screw is not right on the dimple of the tail shaft. So the whole tail rotor is off by 1.5mm towards the tail boom. Surprsingly enough, the tail is holding ok during flight. I relocate the grub screw to the dimple with some loctite. Now the tail slider has 1.5mm more movement.
