I was just getting ready to try out my new charger for the first time but I have run into a little problem. The Voltz packs do not fit either the JST or the HP balance boards supplied with the charger, so I checked the balance boards I used with our last charger (also a Hyperion charger), and they are Thunder Power balance boards. I tried to use those on the new charger but they do not fit. If anyone is charging Voltz batteries on this charger, did you just use Thunder Power balance boards that fit the charger, or is there a way to use my old boards? Thanks

I tried all combinations of my wires and paddles, both the ones that came with my Duo and also the ones I have from the Old DUO (615i). None worked. The wires/paddles from the old battery that were the correct size for the battery do not fit in the new DUO and the new wires/paddles that are sized for the new Duo do not fit the battery.

I'm thinking now that it's a recent change in how Voltz batteries are made. Mine have 2 balance plugs (on the old TP balance board, one going into the 6S slot, and one into the 2S slot). The supplied HP and JST boards with the 720i do not have the 2 ports, so I thought origonally that they would still split up even if they were not right next to each other. But for one part the plugs do not even fit into the boards (for either the 6S or the 2S), and the boards to not even have the right kind of plugs. They are a different design than the TP board I was using before.

Does your Voltz battery only have the one 6S balance plug? If so that might explain why it works for you and not for me. Just a thought.

So that's it then. I'm wondering now how I will be able to charge my batteries, if I can not use either the old balancing wires or boards to fit my batteries' plugs.

You can get the Hyperion TP balance boards for your 720 duo for $5 each.

Yes I found those online. I will check at the LHS tomorrow or as soon as I can, but if they're not at the shop, I don't nearly have enough time to get them by mail before leaving for IRCHA on Monday .

Wingman 77,

Where did you get them? I'm going to pick up a couple of Voltz 6s and probably need the right balance board. Do you have a part number?

But keep in mind the above part number is only needed for older-purchased Voltz batteries. Apparantly if you buy them now, they come with a single 6S balance plug, which should fit the provided balance plugs that come with the 720i.

I don't have the super duo but if I'm not mistaken it does 7 cells. If that is the case here is the part number HP-LBA7-XH-B. I have the Hyperion 610 I and use the XH adapter on my 6S 5100 Voltz pack. Chuck

That sounds right. Yes the 720i does 7S, and that is why a special balancing board (the part number I posted), is required to charge the Voltz packs with it. That board is specifically for the 720i.

not to get off topic, but dont you wish the battery and charger companies would stop all this sillyness(actually...B.S. ) and just agree on one type of plug.Their goal of trying to make everything proprietary(sp?)is not working as everyone just buys/makes adaptors or balance boards.it just makes a simple task into a major PITA.

I know it will NEVER happen as companies STILL cant even agree on a servo plug, but one can wish and hope right

Just cut them off and use the plug that will work for your set up.
If your comfortable soldering wires together. Then you wont have to wait.

The yellow wire is the one that needs to go(duplicate) you can verify this with a volt meter. That's what I did to mine anyways.

Just another option if your in a pinch.

Had no shrink tubing...electrical tape extra fat and ugly..I know but it works.

Cheers,

Raven

Ravenhyper50, thanks for the advice but I lucked out and got the last 2 boards at the Hobby Shop tonight, and I have done my first test charge, and am doing my first test Storage charge as we speak. Just getting to know my way around it a little before IRCHA.
