Hello,

I just crashed my Logo 600SE, of course the front battery took the abuse. The battery has a good crease across the bottom, all the cells are bent down about 15 degrees.

I called Thunderpower for a replacement under crash warranty. The battery has no damage except 'wrinkled cells'. All cell voltages are good.

TP mentioned that I could still use the battery, with a performance degrade in the future. I don't plan on using it, just don't trust it.

How much damage, wrinkling of cells, can you get away with? I was just curious how much damage you can have to a batt. pack, and still use it, as long as the cell voltages are good, and intact, no punctures.

Thanks,
Brian

I had a pack similar to that once. I pushed it back into shape and kept using it, no problem, and it never did puff. But I do think it will have a shorter life than the other one. I recommend flattening it back out carefully, and use it up until your warranty is almost up. Then get it replaced on crash warranty when you replace the other one. I don't think TP will have a problem with that.

Thanks for the info, I only have 60 cycles on this battery. I'm still leary of using it.

Is there any problem using a G4 45C TP battery in series with a new G6 45C or 65C battery?

Thanks,
brian

Been there done that. Not an issue, HOWEVER, the cell that took the blunt (bottom one) is the one to keep an eye on. If any cell is going to give you issues it will be that one. Otherwise keep enjoying it as mentioned.

No problem using old 45C with new 45C but there might be performance differences.

45C with 65C is a no go. System will be limited by 45C.

Sorry I have to diagree with you guys on this one, I would never be able to trust a lipo that has been damaged. Too many horror stories out there. If you have a warranty, send it back! Then there are no worries.
Just my opinion.

In the highest quality packs the connections between the cells are the best. In cheap packs one must always worry about connections being compromised as those packs are generally not put together nearly as well. TP has very good connections, and that pack is not hurt that bad. If it was an El cheapo I would worry about it.

I've seen some pretty damaged packs even one that had the shrink rap matterial catch on fire and the pack is still good, but if it where me. you have crash warranty for a reason. use it. I could't fly thinking is that battery going to torch my heli.

I crashed a pack a few weeks ago and it looks like a Waxing Cresent. The pack actualy is loosing power on its own. its down to 2.2 on one cell and 3.7 on the back one.

BTW that crash warranty is only good for one replacement per pack. TP is not going to replace crashed packs over and over for half price. It's more of a courtesy on their part. I still say use it until it gives problems then replace both as it is better to run the pair of packs with a relatively even cycle count if possible.

I appreciate the advice. I just sent pics to TP, waiting for their response. I'm thinking of getting a couple G6 45c packs, and selling one of my good G4 45C TP.

Anyone interested in a slightly used G4 45C 5S 5000 pack? Purchased last September, I have 69 charges(charged at 1.5C) on it, perfect shape with EC5 connector.
