So went to the LHS and actually held the X9503- thing feels super solid, like a 'real' radio. Maybe even a bit too solid.

The sticks felt a bit tight to me, but they are adjustable.

Can someone give me a rundown on how the 8FG _feels_ compared to the X9503 (or X9303 even). Weight? Sticks? Size? Overall quality feel comparison?

Thanks!

Your best bet would be to go back to the hobby shop and feel both. That way you know what they are like. Radios are a personal thing as you already know.

I wish I could! Nobody sells the 8FG where I live- which is odd because I live in San Diego.

No matter, 8FG is on the way. I liked the X9503, but as silly as this sounds it felt too heavy. Would prefer something a bit lighter and smaller which I hear the 8FG is.

The 8FG is lighter and if it is still to heavy for you, add a Lipo battery. It is really light.

When it comes to radios, I would actually prefer a heavier radio. I'm going to buy some stick-on lead weights to stick inside my 8FG to make it heavier. I had a look inside the case and it looks like there is lots of room inside.

One of the reasons the 8FG is so much lighter than the 9503 is the battery. The 9503 has an 8cell battery and the 8FG has a 6 cell battery.

thanks for the idea Dood. I bought some self-adhesive golf lead weights and it has made a great difference to the feel of the radio.

I don't have a clue - but the thought came into my head - would lead have any effect on the radio signal?

I use the same lead-weights to balance my rotor blades and they have not moved yet! So i think if they are installed properly it will be safe enough.
