If you have camped out at IRCHA and used their shower/restroom facilities, can you let me know what your thoughts on them are.
I will be heading down with 6 others in an RV and a question came up about the facilities. I drove down last year and stayed in a hotel so i did not see or get to use the site facility.
thanks
Toyin

Only 4 showers, so you will have to wait your turn, also not the cleanest I've ever seen but what the hell were there to fly aren't we?

The showers have always been clean, it's the people that use them that make them nasty.

Choose off times to take your showers and you won't run into any lines.

Wear sandals in that shower. If you don't have any sandals, go to WalMart and buy some flip-flop sandals for $2!

Yes, the water is kinda cold, but if you shower in the evening, you'll be grateful that water is cold. It's hot out there!

I was just on the IRCHA website, and there are no hours. What time does it close on Saturday? I will be getting in late to Muncie around 7 pm.

They are private, one room showers. They do not smell bad, at least not this morning. If more people treated facilities anywhere like their own at home, there wouldn't be issues like this. Plus the facilities at AMA were never dreamed of servicing the amount of pilots that IRCHA has for one week.

I didn't realize that there were shower facilities there. Do people stay in tents, fly all day, shower then sleep in tents again after the night flying? I assume there are food venders in addition to heli venders? Are there plenty of generators around for the E guys to charge? I'm trying to come up with good angles to throw at the wife to justify a trip...

Some people do primitive camping (in tents),STAY IN RV's, and mainly at the local hotels. There is some night flying but not too much. There are heli and food vendors on site- the usual hot dogs, cheeseburgers etc. Maybe there will be more selection this year- people go off site to the local restuarants to eat.
I was not into electric last year so i cant speak on the generator availability. but a good rule is to bring your own if you need it. People are friendly enough and would probly let you get your charge on but do you really want to impose for 3-4 days.

just say its the biggest rc event and you ARE GOING! Simple.
Bring her along- there are a lot of wives/kids that attend. Since you are planning last minute you hotel selction will be limited or further away from the IRCHA site.

Good luck
