It would be insane to offer insurance for this stuff, whoever did would be out of business in a hurry.

Both Castle Creations and Kontronik have issues on the table right now they are dealing with.

I don't see how they do it myself and I think Castle Creations deciding to do an official acknowledgment and recall is tops, kudos.

again some, setups stressed a particular component in a way that caused controllers to fail instantly.
I would sure like to know exactly what this bad setup is.
Is it a certain combination of parts or a certain heli linkage setup.

It is very possible that the end users can and will come up with scenarios that the designers never envisioned.
Having been a design engineer for over 30 years I still find the creativity of idiots amazing. Idiot proof can never happen, the best you can hope for is idiot resistant.

With most of the heli gear that you can buy, it has been tested by experts.
Those experts will have perfect setups, do everything correctly, with high levels of workmanship, and fly near flawlessly. That is why so many people seem to think that the consumer is the beta testers. What the manufacturers need to do is to get some far less talented individuals on their field rep teams so that the equipment is getting tested under more real world conditions. Where I work when we are getting a new machine close to what we think will be the final design we get it into the hands of someone that knows nothing about what they are doing and have them use it for a while. Its amazing what some non expert people can think up.

This is a hobby.

It is an unregulated industry.

Everything you fly is 'At Your Own Risk'

The insurance you carry is limited to personal and property damage, not the equipment flown (if you were operating safely)

It stinks when you are extra careful, follow instructions, and crap happens from circunstances out of our control. (I just experienced one with a elect component)

Let see, what did I miss?

Ah, have a nice day

All products sold in this country are subject to the laws of this country.

There is no such thing as "fly at your own risk".

Castle has no doubt acted irresponsibly and recklessly in the design of there products, but folks act like this is something new.

Castle have always cut corners, what bothers me is why ?

Why ? Because people want quantity not quality . People complain about Kontroniks only because of price not quality or failures . I never get why people pay bottom dollar for a product then complain about performance or customer service . It's like buying snap on tools or harbor freight tools .

I stole it ,flew it and gave it back ;)

I've seen it happen at our club, we even have a member to who it happened twice (why is his still flying CC?).
All they did is replace the ESC with a new one. It seems that they think they are not responsible for the other damages the ESC fire will cause.
I think if they needed to pay more than just the ESC they would be more careful about their ESC's.
Why then is Align including CC ESC's with their kits....maybe to sell more spare parts after the ESC fire.

I don't know about you but I would not want a Castle BEC smoking $1000 worth of electronics.

Hence the reason there are no Castle BEC's on my heli's.

I would feel guilty selling an operating Castle product to a complete stranger.

Why does Castle rape there customers over and over again ?

Maybe clubs should forbid flying using CC ESCs until they can be proven reliable. That would garner some collective influence.

My CC units have been operating perfectly for 2 years or more. I would buy from CC again.

I think about the hereafter. I go somewhere to get something, then wonder what I'm here after ?

Brian, NO WAY do I want my club to tell me what gear I can and cannot fly at the field. There is no one there more qualified than me to decide what to use in MY heli and it would be totally unenforceable anyhow.
