Radios with a metal case and crystals, you know the kind of radio you needed a color flag clipped onto your 4 foot telescopic antenna with a wooden clothespin !

Tube testers at the local drug-store so you could fix your own TV set.

The little white-dot in the center of your TV screen when you turned off the TV.

People who answer "Buy a Raptor" when the question "what helicopter should I buy" is posted.

"Cans" instead of Flybar Paddles.

EDIT: FBL still concerns me with shooting auto's. - my concern: The gyro doesn't know or care that the skids touched the ground off level - it still sees the uncommanded movement and tries to straighten it out. Thoughts?
That opens a market for a new gizmo. One that would sense when the skids are on the ground and tell the FBL to cool it.

Some asked me the other day if I had a Glow Ignitor?
I do, It hasn't been charged in months...

Switch-Glo, Push-n-Glo, Align 2n1, something, but Glow ignitor?

I was tired of landing because I forgot to take it off!

again, Flybars, 72mhz radios, nitro fuel, stabalizer fins, field boxes, pitch gauges, batteries, transmitter trays, collective management? and 95% of everything else listed in this thread
ARE NOT GIZMOS!
Most people here don't know what "Gizmo" means.... They're confusing the word with 'antique'.

How about electric fuel pumps for your nitro setup? How about nitro flight boxes in general? I remember back in the day having a box with tools in the center, a gallon of nitro on one side, and a big lead-acid battery on the other side. I don't see this at all anymore.
I've got one sitting in my shop that is just like that one! I need to give it to a nitro planker, but they don't have many around here any more...

High Voltage just works better

I don't think those have left yet.

Still a lot of tx's out there that dont have the e-ring.

Flat Belt tail drives (like on the American R/C helicopters from the 1970's and 1980's and the original version of the Helibaby).

Not cog-belts, which are used extensively now.

Also, oil-filled metal cased transmissions (found in early Schluter, Kalt, and Hirobo scale helicopters).

Resin clutches (found in early Hirobo helicopeters). If you did not manage to melt one with a hot start, they broke after about 20 flights).

Rotor heads for flybarred models with swashplates that raise and lower with collective, but have no washout control. Hirobo had these on the Falcon Mk I and Falcon 505-the paddles changed collective in the opposite direction of the main blades.
