NO Airplanes per AMA
I just got word from IRCHA and AMA saying no airplanes in the event, so the Stryker runs are OUT.

Sorry guys, but it the wise thing to do.

Strykers
Sorry, no Stryker runs.

It is the right thing to do, after all, this is the LARGEST HELI EVENT in the World!!

I'm sure we will all have lots to do without the planes flying here.

My personal apologies, maybe another time, another place?

Thanks,

Ken

I had a great time at the Speed Cup. There were some very fast and interesting machines, no one broke anything, and everyone seemed to enjoy the event. Many thanks to Santiago and Ken for making this possible and, many thanks to the guys at the timing gates for volunteering their time. Next year should be even better

WOW
It was literary a blurr. Almost 30 pilots flew in the event and posted times.

Huge thanks to Ken Jennings, Douglas Krueger, and Heath Hamilton, who put in over 4 straight hours of time keeping and judging rockets flying in front of them. Also Chris Bates assisted much and even flew in the event.

I am surprise that the TRex 700 only got 88. I have seen them go as fast as 100 at our speed event. Hope they have this event next year, as I will try to make it. We may see some great mods to beat the records.

Joe

I am suprise also about the Trex 700. Last year (IRCHA 2010) I got mine up to 94.5. And I am not the best at flying in a straight line.
Ken was there He can verify that.

Charlie

Is it the weekend yet?

The N TRex was a back up, Dennis was supposed to fly a Sylphide in the event (much faster) but lost it a week before. I projected my Avant FBL would go mid 90s and never had a chance to tune the engine being busy with the event.
BTW, I think Ken's 700N hit hit low-mid 90 while practicing Friday.

It was a shame there was no media coverage of the event. We had close to 100 spectators at a given point, plus the pilots and crews.

Witnessing the top 10 ROARING BY was a sight to be seen a heard. I will post some pictures and full results in the next 2 days. I need to recover from all the "fun".

Santiago

EDIT,
Mark Fadely was there in the trenches covering the event, what a guy! I was too busy to even notice.

Fastest nitro was 38-42mph less that's a ton of difference for sure. I missed this challenge was really hoping to see it, to many things going on at this event.

...Once upon a time there were Nitros, flybars and frequency pins...

No words required:

Watch at YouTube

You would need a profesional camera, a distant setup point and a luck to follow this thing thru a lense, but at least you can hear the Minicopter Diabolo, roar by...

View it in higher Def on Youtube

What a awesome event, thanks for putting it on Santiago!
I'm sure we all had a lot of fun. It also seemed to attract quite a few spectators. I even managed to come home with a helicopter still in one piece See you next year

This will be a must for next year. Did not see the machine in the video, but the audio said it all.

Hey guys Doug and I had fun timing for the event. It was really nerve racking having a TDR at 120 mph buzz directly over your head though. Definitely going to help out next year and I might enter to compete also. Dood, you scared the living crap out of me with your flight, were you a bit nervous? All and all I had a blast.

Dood was scaring the crap out of me, his spotter. He was really nervous, the machine was not setup to fly straight, and like a few others, could not see the heli at 120m away (+400ft). (I must had wispered to him 100 times, omg! keep it away from the judges!)

He's better pilot that what he showed. Not the end of the story; Dood will be back next year, meaner, leaner, and flying a nowhere near the judges heads, LOL

BTW,

Did anyone get the licence plate of the TDR that went backwards, inverted, at over 100mph! ? =Mr. McQuillen!

Heath and Doug, thanks for all the work. Next year you will be asked to fill organ donor cards, and last wills before the event.
Kidding, I am moving the judges at least another 50feet back.
