I fly raptors, but I think if I had it to do all over again I would buy a Century hawk sport, tt39 or OS 32, Eclipse 7 with heli flight pack, gy401 w/9253. That should put you in the price range, and there is a lot of people willing to help you learn, this is a great hobby and I think it is only going to get bigger. Good luck, and it is just my opinion.

simulator

hey don't forget the simulator! I find it to be the best investment in this hobby, it will save you some $$ on the long run if you invest in one of these. Get either G2 or the Reflex simulator, you can't go run with any of them.

raptor_newbie,
Glad fellows like you are around. Your honesty and honest $$$ figure are pretty gol-derned accurate and that's what the new guys need to hear. I just might be able to cut a dime or quarter here and there on your figures, but not without the experience I now have. And, I would say the guy/gal who mentioned that RR is about one of the best tools around also deserves a pat on the back as well...RR is about one of the best tools I've had the pleasure of using. If you can't get the answer here, then the question ain't answerable as me old ma used to tell me...would have to be a "mystery of life."

One last word on the issue of "first-timers." And that is SAFETY...safety in building, safety in pre-flighting, safety in flying, safety in post-flighting, and so on, and so on. If something doesn't seem right, then in probably isn't and, "if you have a problem on the ground, keep it on the ground....until the problem is resolved to your complete satisfaction" are two sayings to live with....or not, if you don't heed them.

Thanks!

I just wish someone were around to guide my purchases when I started my helimanship. I had a lot of prior experience with planks and figured "How hard can it be?", big oops on my part.

And why? Because I didn't know any better. I have always been the one to think "buy right and buy once", but I just didn't know what to buy. I went by reviews and prices. Wrong thing to do. You know what I mean......how much better can a $500.00 radio be than a $300.00 radio? It's just more channels right? Pshaw!

I look back now and think about how much money I would have SAVED buying the better this and that in the first place. I found out you have to work your budget around what you need, not what you need around your budget.
