In exploring a run for president Donald Trump has repeatedly accused China of taking manufacturing jobs from the U.S., saying "the problem with our country is that we don't make anything anymore."

But an array of Trump-branded products from ties, dress shirts and other clothing in the Donald J. Trump Signature Collection, to hats, stuffed animals, cufflinks and tie clips are stamped "Made in China."

Visitors to the Trump Store in the lobby of the Trump Tower on Fifth Avenue in New York City, or to the displays of Trump clothing at Macy's in New York?s Herald Square, would be hard-pressed to find much labeled "Made in the U.S.A."

Trump, a Republican, has made the flow of U.S. jobs overseas, especially to China, as much a centerpiece of his exploratory campaign as his questions about whether President Obama was born in America.

"When it comes to manufacturing, China is making all these products. They could be made in North Carolina. They could be made in Alabama. They could be made in lots of our places and right now they're not," he told CNN earlier this year.

Trump hammered at the theme again Wednesday during a visit to New Hampshire. "China is raping this country," Trump told employees at Wilcox Industries, which makes tactical equipment for U.S. military forces.

"When this country became great was the industrial revolution," he said. "We are now the opposite of the industrial revolution, and pretty soon we are going to fall off a cliff."

At the same time Trump was speaking, his Trump Store was contributing to the growth of Chinese manufacturing at the expense of American jobs, selling $80 Trump-branded cotton sweaters and $70 Trump-branded warm-up tops, all made in China. Also available with the made in China tag: golf hats stamped with the Trump crest and Trump teddy bears.

Visitors also could buy leather made-in-China belts priced at $45 that are advertised as "So soft, it feels like a million bucks." And in the display case were neat stacks of colorful Trump-branded polo shirts that would be perfect wear for one of Trump's golf courses. The shirts, which sell for $70, were not made in China, but nearby, in Korea and Thailand.

Among the few items made in the U.S.A., are Trump chocolate bars, books, teas and Trump Christmas tree ornaments, priced at $15 each.

As first reported by Salon.com, the Trump wear sold in Macy's, part of the Donald J. Trump Signature Collection, is manufactured overseas, including ties in more than 50 different styles and colors (all made in China), suits (made in Mexico and Vietnam), and dress shirts (five styles made in China).

All the Trump tie pins ($22) and tie clips ($28) are labeled as "Made in China," as are the cufflinks ($35 to $45 a pair) and the boxes containing them.

Although so many Chinese-made products are sold under the Trump name, Trump repeatedly has complained about the quality of Chinese-made goods as compared to American products. "Our companies make a better product, that's very important to know. We make a better product," he told a gathering of conservative activists in Washington in February.

A spokeswoman for Trump did not respond to a request for comment.

Trump accuses China of "currency manipulation," which he says artificially depresses the cost of goods manufactured in China, making it hard for American manufacturers to compete, costing the U.S. jobs.

Adding to the outrage, in Trump's view, is that China is using its windfall to buy U.S. debt. He says the U.S. should slap heavy taxes on imported Chinese goods, to jack up their prices.

"Hey look, I know lots of folks in China, they think we are the dumbest son of a bitches in the world, all right?"

"They are laughing at us behind our backs, taking money out and then they loan it to us," he said earlier this year

"China has been hurting this country economically more than any other country," Trump said. He also has singled out South Korea, which he says has ?treated us very, very badly."

Some will call Trump damaged merchandise and cannot win because of that. The same is said of Gingrich and Huckleby.

Heck, they are ALL damaged merchandise. ALL of them. Especially Trump. You cannot earn the money Trump has or be as successful as he has been without stepping on some toes somewhere along the line.

At the same time, look at how he is doing in the polls. He has not announced officially yet and he is right on the top end as being the favorite. Who knows if that will hold up to the primaries 9 months from now and beyond. I kinda doubt it. But still, who knows? Lots of territory to cover between now and then. Billions of dollars to piss of to get your vote.

Hmmm, aren't all your helicopters and most electronics made in China or Taiwan ? Only MA is solely manufactured in the USA. So you bash Trump for selling Chinese products, yet most of you buy Chinese products.
Kind of a double standard.
Most of my little machine shop is from Asia, I could not afford an American made lathe and milling machine.
And I don't support Trump.

I think about the hereafter. I go somewhere to get something, then wonder what I'm here after ?

Reportedly Trump was a big contributor to the democratic party, but now he talks about running as a republican. Looks like he has no allegance but likes to play both sides.

If he is flip flopping,he is still a Democrat, thats what they do for the cameras.
I believe he just did this with Obama,in a feeble attempt to put the birther issue to rest before 2012.THe polls are showing more and more peoples distaste and distrust of this man we call Barrack Hussein Obama but is really Barry Obama Soetoro.

The fact still remains he attended school as an Indonesian citizen and gave up whatever citizenship he had prior. Not to anyones knowledge has he ever regained his US citenship if even he ever had one.

Stop typing and read his book, and you will find out who this guy is.Not who you see on television.
Perhaps the people that voted for Barry should have done that first but in similar style to Pelosi America voted Barry in before we can see whats inside.

Not really a double standard. I am not bashing him for his Chinese made crap. I am bashing him for being a hypocrite though. I also think Trump is a kook.

You guys just never give up, posting the same garbage over and over....

Analysis: Hoax. The original April 1, 2009 posting date suggests it may have been intended as an April Fools prank, but given that the text does little else but parrot actual tenets of the so-called "Birther" movement (the folks who claim Barack Obama is ineligible for the presidency due to a forged or invalid birth certificate, etc.), it barely qualifies as satire.

Is it really an AP news story?

No. The Associated Press ("AP" never published such a story. It didn't run in any real newspaper, nor on any real wire service. It can, however, be found posted and reposted on hundreds of anti-Obama blogs and websites.

Is it true that the Supreme Court has agreed to hear arguments on Obama's citizenship and eligibility?

No. The Supreme Court has refused to hear the Donofrio case, not to mention every other Obama citizenship case submitted to date.

Did a group called "Americans for Freedom of Information" release Obama's Occidental College transcripts?

No. The organization doesn't exist — or didn't at the time the above message first began circulating, at any rate. A similarly-named website went up after the fact, but there is no evident connection between that website and the fake news story.

Has anyone released Obama's Occidental College transcripts?

No, the transcripts haven't been released, nor has any court of law "ordered" them released. (Source: Occidental College)

Did Obama attend Occidental under the name "Barry Soetoro"?

No. Soetoro was the surname of his stepfather, but there's no evidence Barack Obama used it when he attended college. Fellow alumni quoted in the press remember him as "Barry Obama." According to an Occidental spokesperson quoted on FactCheck.org, the college has no records showing Obama used his stepfather's last name.

Did Obama attend Occidental under a Fulbright Scholarship for Foreign Students?

No. Obama did attend on a scholarship according to various news sources, but it wasn't a Fulbright scholarship, let alone a Fulbright scholarship for foreign students. The Fulbright Foreign Student Program accepts Master's Degree and Ph.D. candidates only. Obama was neither. He couldn't have been awarded a Fulbright scholarship for foreign students even if he had been born outside the U.S. (Source: Fulbright Program)

Did the Daily Mail discuss these revelations in a news story entitled "Obama Eligibility Questioned"?

No. No such story turns up in a search of the London newspaper's archive.

Did Gary Kreep of the United States Justice Foundation release research showing Obama has spent $950,000 or more to fight litigation over his legitimacy?

I've found no record of any such study being published. The Justice Foundation does exist and its Executive Director is indeed a man named Gary Kreep, but he is on record saying the above story is a hoax.

He actually did release the LEGAL birth certificate, as issued by Hawaii. Birthers just don't want to acknowledge it.
