I know that on the nitro in 2011 there is now a space to mount the gyro up front if you so choose. This is a change from the 2010 version nitro.

Hi all, I am just curious if this heli is easy to service? Like changing the main gear, taking engine, changing the main shaft etc..

It isn't bad. I have worked on Heli's that were a little harder to work on. Some things easier on others. All in all you won't be disappointed.

The Aurora kits were updated late last year as the 2010 spec which is what is now being referred to as the 2011 spec.

These are the differences between the older kits and the new 2010 / 2011 spec as posted on the Avant support forum.
http://www.avantrc.com/support/showthread.php?t=1036
The latest changes have been:

1) AV900240 - Smooth Spindle
2) AV000130 - Semi-rigid dampeners.
3) AV900239 - 4mm jesus pin hole in main shaft.
4) AV000801 - 4mm jesus pin.
5) AV900223 - 4mm pin hole main sleeve.
6) AV900211 - slightly enlarged constant drive gear for tighter mesh.
7) AV910300, 301 - Nitro frames have both back and top front gyro mount locations.
8) AV920350, 351 - Electric frames have new longer slots for large heavy batteries.
9) AV000108 - Electric frames have an extra 26mm spacer
10) AV000100 - Electric now has square mainshaft bearing blocks instead of the ones used in the nitro for no need for block orientation.
11) AV920350, 351 - Electric frames now have ESC on the left side
12) AV000123, 124 - Metal balls fit without a need to resize or squeeze the ball links
13) AV900202 - Torque tube is stiffer and harder

New in current batch of kits or about to be released:
1) New flybarless head needed a stronger solid mainshaft that will become the new default for all the kits.
2) AV000115 - Flybar carrier mounting sleeves allow for more thread inside the flybar carrier.
3) AV000801 - Tail pulley shaft pins are now easier to insert.

Additional to those all kits both nitro and electric now come with painted canopies.

One of the most important parts of the design of the Aurora is to make it easy to service. Things like changing out the main gear or main shaft can be done in minutes due to some innovative design elements and the very low parts count.

Other than waiting for the boom support and the tail pushrod glue to dry, once you learn the tricks the entire helicopter can be assembled in less than 2 hours. At least that's how it is for the electric version I own.

What kind of trouble are you having? Maybe I can be of assistance?

If the main shaft bearing blocks aren't lined up spot on, they can make it hard to get the shaft out - double check these, and ensure they are tightened in place with the main shaft able to spin freely between them. it will still be a very snug fit as the tolerences are very high.

If the feathering spindle has the rubber tube in the middle (sits in the centre of the head block) that can be a bit of work to get out. Using the new solid spindle and rigid damper system, you don't really need the rubber tube fitting (although it can still be used). This will make it much easier to fit and remove.

I hope you enjoy your heli - it is awesome!
Cheers,
Rob

yeah which is cheap considering they are similar to the infinovation dampeners which cost twice as much and they dont wear out in 20 flights Jerry any questions about repair give me a call. its easy after the first time you do it.
