It has been just about 3 years since I last flew my Mini T. My daughter will be 3 this Wed, so it is time for Daddy to get back to flying once again. When I pulled my Mini-T down and blew off the dust, I decided to see what upgrade parts were available. I was surprised to see a torque tube drive, and order one, along with some other items as well. But, just as I suspected, my four lipo's are worthless....one TP and 3 Zippy's. The most I can get back into them is about 250-500. That's it. They are all 2200 25C 3's. So, with that said...I was shocked to find out my Spektrum DX7 battery to be GTG. It's on it's 3rd cycle and I am at 11, so that should due. I was on the HobbyKing website and decided to order some of these:

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/...?idproduct=9927

ZIPPY Flightmax 2450mAh 3S1P 30C. The specs are this:

Capacity(mAh) 2450
Config(s) 3
Discharge(c) 30
Weight(g) 225
Max Charge Rate (C) 2
Length-A(mm) 137
Height-B(mm) 45
Width-C(mm) 17

I read that these would fit a Mini-T and a T-Rex. I have searched, and searched and have found no mention of this other then on the HK site. Does any one here have any experience with these and how they fit? Also, noticed that BEC's are the rage now....any recommendations on a good, inexpensive one? Thanks again and looking forward to getting back into the air. Got my G2 reinstalled on my Vista64 PC, that was a royal PITA. Take care, safe flying and Semper Fi!

for the battery make a foam block the exact dimensions of any battery you are looking at and see if it fits under the canopy.Or measure the ones you have now and use that as a reference.

For the BEC I have 2 MT's with hundreds of flights on each and the bec in the stock esc has been flawless. Why add more weight and more wires,no need on a 450.Most built in bec's are more than enough for the current draw of a 450,especially if you are not doing hard 3d

oh yeah....welcome back

fenderstrat, thank you for the advice! Well I finally got her outside for a practice run. Except for a little sub-trim on the elevation, she hovered hands off (OK, you know what I mean). The wind was blowing pretty hard...and I need to put a little expo on the DX7 (very twitchy...but its been almost 3 years since I last flew it). Also, ordered a new battery for the DX7 from evil-bay....this battery drops voltage very quickly. Now for some curves and I will be set. Battery was cool, 2200 3sp 30C Turnigy, motor was hot (stock motor), but not bad, but the esc (stock 40 amp) was as hot as ever...even with the heat-sink on it. Will have to work on that. Will post some pics later. Happy Easter to you all!

Replaced the aluminum tail boom with the CF one I had. I read somewhere that you had to cut it in order to use the torque tube conversation. Well, this is not true. Mine was a one for one replacement, with the exception of drilling two small holes on either side of the tail hub, to attach two screws. That was it. The CF boom is about 2 mm longer then the aluminum one, but guess it doesn't matter. Just got back from flying for a few minutes...you know, there is nothing like tweaking your bird, and when you spool it up, runs perfectly! The wind is blowing about 15+ MPH right now, but didn't matter. Flies just like the 50 Raptor in my G2 Flight Sim! Doing a new canopy and adding the green paddles, mostly just for visibility. Now its time to get adventurous! I just can't get over how stable the MIni-T is!

the green paddles make the cyclic FAST so be ready.flips and rolls are much cleaner and faster

also what blades are you using?

fenderstrat, honestly, I don't know what blades they are. I ordered them over 2 years ago and their are no markings on them. I think they are some of the early ThunderTiger CF blades, but just a guess. They will do until I can purchase some radix (prefer black and white) ones. They are hard to see...but I do like them. Hopefully by summers ending I will be doing flips and inverted. Not there yet. Comfortable with figure 8's, forward flight, etc. Rolls are my first foray...then I will see what's next. If I can do rolls and inverted flight by the end of the summer, I will be more then content. I replaced my AR6100 with the two piece AR6200...need to send it to HH to get it updated. And I don't trust the range on it.

Finally received my order from Hobby King. Think I will hold out on the 500 motor though...Mini-T is just flying too well right now to mess with it. Also, those 2450 30C 3s battery are much bigger then what I am used to! Was able to 'make' the 2450 batteries fit. Just barely and with some tinkering. Balance seems better than with the 2200's, but that hasn't been a issue yet. I also put a 11T pinion on the stock motor, see if it will help cool down the esc and motor. I only sport fly, so shouldn't matter. Hope you all have a great weekend. Need to start looking at a way to charge 3 batteries at once now...with my current setup.
