Guys,

I want to report of broken clutch bells on my X50.
(both were destroyed around center in the area where big wholes were cut out to reduce weight)
It happened first time after around 20 3D flights and again 8 flights later.

Please let me and TT know if it was my bad luck only or due to crappy material combined with that big wholes in it.

Are there any update bells available?

Thanks for any comments.

I tried the Clutchbell from my Titan 50. The X50 clutchbell seems to be counterbored where the pinion screws in. So the X50 clutchbell sits 3 to 4mm higher than in the Titan (the pinion gear screws in further in the X50 bell).
This means with a R50 Titan bell, you can't slide the motor up far enough without the clutch hitting the top inside of the bell.

The Titan 50SE should work(PV0671)it's the same height as the X50(PV0671-1)bell, 24mm.

^+1 The SE bell also has the counterbore where the pinion threads in.

Something just isn't right about this, or others would have been experiencing failures here as well.

My X50 with KME 60 is a torque monster, and clutch is holding up just fine.

The fact that the second bell only lasted 8 flights is a huge red flag that something is amiss.

I'd like to know what shape the liner is in, is there a possibility grease or oil has absorbed into the liner? Were there any signs of heat distress (discoloration of bell, or clutch shoe)? Is the clutch jammed up against the underside of the bell? Bearing in the bell in good shape? Engine to bell alignment? What head speed, and collective/pitch angles is the head set with?

Lots of variables here, but the most telling sign is that it does not seem to be a common problem with this machine. Close-up shots of the broken pieces might be of some use in helping to determine the cause.
