Any thoughts on why the heli would be doing this? Heli mechanic setup is perfect. Gain is set to factory 12 o' clock on both ail and ele. Radio setup is perfect. We re-set up the 3g from scratch and re-maidened it and it did the EXACT same thing but this time the blades didn't get smashed!!

Bad 3g unit perhaps?

I just had the same situation yesterday only it was the elevator. Unfortunately, I didn't set it down as quickly as you did and tried to fight it only to nose in hard.

I'll watch the responses with interest.

Did you check to make sure that the gyro is compensating in the right direction? I watched a guy test and had a similar result.

agree.
Thinking aileron sense is backwards on 3G.
As soon as it goes left, you jam in right. When you let go, it keeps coming right in an attempt to stop because the sense is backwards. Then you jam in left, etc....

I'm guessing the sense was backward,a well as your case 5high, read it yesterday, but didn't get a chance to respond.

I've had two 3G's that did that kind of crap at random even when it was set up right. It would fly fine for a dozen flights then just snap and do exactly what your video shows.

I literally never use the word literally right.

Between me, JR-Ric and bethomp we have four to five hundred flights on the 3g since last year. I figured out our basic setup procedure which we all follow. Zero probllems.

Apparently when he updated the firmware, it reversed his aileron compensation so that was the cause of the back and forth swaying. We are going to make another attempt today and hopefully that fixed it!!

Maiden was successful!! It was the aileron compensation being reversed!! After he fixed it, the machine flew like a dream!!

Wow, just watched your vid. That was a nightmare. You did well considering what you had to deal with after lift off.
