My heli flies well with the v bar express, but the tail is a little mushy, not crisp. Yesterday I was trying to raise my tail gain till I got a wag and then I was going to ease it down a bit as to maximize my gain. I cranked my radio up to 100% and never saw a wag at hover. Strange, no?

In the Express rx setup tab I chose channel 7 for gyro and when I turn the dial in my 9503 while in gyro sense menu (set to auto), the blue and yellow bars in vbar move. When out of setup mode, my switch also moves the vbar tail rotor gyro setting slider up and down. So I think it is mapped correctly.

A little help or advice please...

Thanks

Test that you actually reach 120% when radio is at 100% (else adjust ATV), do this by have the computer connected while you move the radio, make sure the gain goes all the way up.

If that is not enough your mechanical gain is too low, you need to move ball on the servo-horn outward a bit.

Just to be clear. vbar mini express, 2 sats JR 9503 radio. vbar is mounted on gel tape with a tight strap.
In radio I set Gear to Gyro and set gyro sense to auto. In software I changed rx tab to channel 7. I get movement on slider when I change my radio gain.

I went back in and saw that zero in my radio is 15 in vbar software and 100 in my radio is 120 in vbar software.

I took your advice and moved rudder ball one space out. I then had to adjust vbar software slider values from mid fifties to mid forties in tail set up tab, to eliminate binding at the ends of the servo travel. I went out to test and I can still hover at 100% radio gain without any wag at all and tail is still a little mushy.

Don't know what to try next.

Have you checked gsin in idle up etc, so its not defaulting back to something lower inflight due to that?

Is it wagging or just soft?

What is gsin? It is just soft, no wag. Remember, this is Express, not Pro.

Badly spelled gain
Yeah expres but you should still be able to get it firm or even wagging at high gain.
Make sure radio output correct in idle up modes
