I have five helicopter and a plane. I was wondering what you guys would suggest I do. I know I need to buy receivers, but I see some of the receivers do a few different things. Did any of you guys wish you would of bought them fancey receivers with regulators and govornors. I may even get a FBL controllor while I'm sending money.

Just curious if it makes for a better setup or just plug and play with the new rx.

AR8000 does the job just fine... you are getting a DX8? then a 7610 will work brilliantly as well... I use the AR8000 in my heli and I only had a spare 7600 for my plane, so its currently on DSM2 only... but no biggy...

if you have never used or needed a governor or limiter don't get it... I have one, but it was actually such a waste...

what is a good FBL controllor to easily match up with DSM2 or x?

I'm running a Vbar in my nitro and electric Aurora with both using Vbar governor. I'm still finishing up the E but I'm loving the Vbar gov on the Aurora nitro.

I'm running both with spek satellites and straight 2s lipo.

I'm using a 11X on dsm2 with no issues.

I have my mini titan setup with a mini Vbar and my 450 pro with beastX. I'm going to put a couple more flights on them and switch the FBL units to test them and compare.

Will most of the new JR or spectrum receivers run the Life packs and or 2S packs without a problem. Just want to be sure I can grow with what every I decide to buy.

I think the future is going to be all-in-one FBL units on helis.

Are all FBL controllors mostly like that. You can add a satelite receivor. I think the G is by curtis.

That would get rid of some wires.

V-bar, Total-G, Beast-x all use JR or Spektrum satellites. I think there are others too. This seems to be the way things are headed.

That's why you go Futaba No DSMX... No brownouts on the Futaba forums since I've been here I think

I'm not sure if they came out with the satellite adapter for the Futaba FBL unit yet. I really haven't kept up on it.

The BeastX hasn't released their adapter for the 2 satellites as of yet that I know of. So you could only run one Sat. off it and depending on the bird it prob would not be a good idea unless it's a 450 size. The BeastX I have on my 450 I run a Sat on it.

I haven't tried the Total G yet but I will at some point and yes it's from Curtis.

I have no plans going to DSMX as what I've got now is working great just like all the past JR radio's I've had. I've never had a Brown out or anything.

Yup

12FG to 9303 to 12x.
JR Radios fit my hands better, and the PowerSafe receivers designed for heli use were a far better option than the Futaba ones in my opinion. Now moving to all satellite based FBL units on the larger birds (Total G on the 700's and Skookum 720 on 550E). My 600's and smaller electrics stay on 3G. The 600's run AR7100 and A123, the 450 and 500 have AR6200 and built in BEC.

I have had nothing but success with JR and Spektrum. The 12x is without a doubt the best feeling radio for me as a pinch flier with large hands. I loved my old 9ZWC2 back 5 years ago, but the 12FG felt like a toy, and I can't fit my ring finger between the switches.

Someone mentioned "brown outs". Spektrum addressed the reconnect issue over 4 years ago. Now Spektrum and Futaba have near identical tolerance to low voltage, with Spektrum actually working at a slightly lower voltage. So with a properly designed power system, both are bullet proof.

I personally feel the satellite design gives me the ability to place antennas on multiple sides of a radio opaque carbon fiber chassis. Since 2.4 is blocked by carbon, regardless of frequency hopping, skipping or twirling, putting antennas in multiple locations makes me feel a bit safer. That pesky couple years of Navy electronics training coming back to haunt me and years working on stuff operating in those frequency ranges.

I think Futaba has always been superior in terms of software. As Ben will point out, the compensation mixers in the 12 and 14 channel (and 8FG) were far better than JR's stuff. The 12x has some, but not on level of the 12mz. The 8FG is a generation more advanced than the 9303 in terms of software. That said, since I am putting a simple single servo control into my Skookum and Total G, and very basic CCPM 120 into 3G, I don't use any of the fancy mixes. The FBL sorts out all of the uncommanded heli movements..

So DSMx gives better performance in crowded environments. It retains satellites, which solves an RF propagation/blocking issue, and the 12x feels like a $1000 radio should, rather than a $1000 plastic toy. A winner in my book.

I like these kinda statements as Futaba guys just shoot all other brands down... we are not allowed to love our product and have fun with it...

the beauty of where I fly, everyone uses spektrum... so I don't get bad mouthed

I think all the Spek Rx's are rated at 9v. I've run the following on direct 2S lipo or 8v regulated...

AR7000, AR9000, AR9100, AR7100, AR7600, AR7610, AR8000

All were fine.

I found it again. It's the AR7110 7-Channel DSMX Heli Receiver. Regulated throttle and gyro channels.

Is anyone using these if so what is your setup.
